“Ernest Hemingway”
Ernest Hemingway was born in 1899 in Chicago.
His father was a doctor.
When he was young he worked as a journalist, but in 1924 he decided to devote himself to writing.
During his life he travelled around the world and he used his experiences as the basis for many of his novels.
He was in Italy during the First World War and based A Farewell to Arms on hisexperience there.
During the Spanish Civil War he went to Spain and described his experiences in For Whomthe Bell Tolls.
He was passionately interested in bullfighting, hunting, and fishing.
Hemingway wrote about 20 novels and short stories and received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. He died in 1961.
