Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Visual Arts Elective Students to Arthur Boyd’s Bundanon Trust
Arthur Boyd’s vision for a ‘living arts centre’ and his subsequent gift to the nation of 1100 hectares of land and a magnificent collection of art in March 1993 has resulted in the establishment of Bundanon.
Bundanon is a location which offers students the opportunity to experience art in a new and exciting context, outside of classrooms and gallery spaces. As your child has recently selected to study Visual Arts as aHigher School Certificate Elective Course, this venue provides a great opportunity for them to explore and be absorbed by the world of art.
Bundanon Trust has worked closely with the Department of Education and Creative Arts Consultants to ensure that their workshops are syllabus relevant. Agendas are designed in collaboration with teachers and content that meets specific syllabus objectives. Workshops are conducted in a wide variety of situations such as by the riverbed and at various aspects within the landscape. Students will examine ways in which visual language is used to project oneself in the world, and how certain colours and shapes have a commonly understood meaning and the effects that different mediums and the application of materials can have on an artwork as a whole. Students will also study the exhibition of Arthur Boyd's life as an artist on display in the library at Riversdale. Students will analyse and interpret the works in the exhibition in the same context as is required by the school examinations.
