SecureLogix Launches
ETM™ (Enterprise Telephony Management) Platform
Introduces new applications suite and communications appliances
WASHINGTON, D.C., and SAN ANTONIO, Texas, October 29, 2001 – SecureLogix Corporation launched its new ETM™ (Enterprise Telephony Management) Platform today at the 28th Annual Computer Security Institute (CSI) Conference and Exhibition. The company has received significant orders ahead of the release of the new product.
The ETM Platform addresses longstanding telecom security and management issues and provides a robust strategy to provide security for converging technologies. The Platform employs a family of intelligent communications appliances and a growing suite of bundled applications in a centrally managed, PBX-independent system that IP-enables any private voice network. This state-of-the-art solution addresses data and PBX phone network security issues; significantly reduces phone bills and other operational costs; enhances centralized visibility and control of the entire legacy telecom infrastructure; and provides a low-cost, stepped migration path to a secure converged enterprise network.
“Security is clearly becoming one of the most significant issues facing the telecommunications industry today,” observed David Fraley, principal analyst at Gartner Dataquest. “As often happens when technologies begin to converge, there are disconnects in the details of implementation. As voice and data networks have converged, security issues have often been overlooked while new communication devices have appeared on desktops. Suddenly system managers in both realms are realizing they have a serious problem. Security solutions such as SecureLogix’s can clearly allow enterprises to achieve not only secure networks, but also cost control. These type of solutions should also be very appealing to industries such as banking, insurance, health care, utilities, government, and the military.”
Bundled Applications Suite
The new bundled applications suite, introduced with version 3.0, includes the TeleWall® Telecom Firewall, TeleAudit® Usage Manager, and the TeleView™ Infrastructure Manager.
The award winning TeleWall Telecom Firewall detects, logs, and blocks unauthorized modem, fax, voice, and video traffic. This patented solution closes the hacker’s “last big back door” into the internal data network. It controls all modem activity across the enterprise, both through a patented technology that distinguishes call type and by deploying a rules-based security policy engine.
The TeleAudit Usage Manager enables enterprise-wide, consolidated reporting on all call detail data captured on voice, fax, modem, video, and STU-III transmissions via one management console. Call detail records, including call type, are logged into a relational database to enable ready access to automated or fully customizable reports. Report elements include infrastructure utilization statistics (per trunk, per PBX, per site, etc.) by call type, security detail and trending information, traffic pattern analysis, service level monitoring, capacity planning analysis, departmental billing, and toll fraud activities.
TeleView Infrastructure Manager provides enterprise-wide visibility and control of the voice infrastructure, including real-time monitoring of the health and status of all voice trunks. “We will extend the capabilities of TeleView in an upcoming release to support secure command line access to PBXs, voice mail systems, and other telephony infrastructure. This will centralize the management of those systems as well,” said John Ramsey, Director of Product Management. He added, “We are also working on an extremely cost-effective voice encryption product to add to our security suite in Q1 of next year, and will follow with the introduction of a secure VoIP gateway.”
Communications Appliances
Three series of ETM Communications Appliances are available to suit organizations of any size: the 1000, 2100, and 3200. “The 3200 Series fulfills the needs of our largest federal and commercial enterprise customers,” explained Mark Collier, CTO of SecureLogix. “It is an extremely reliable telecommunications appliance designed to be highly scalable. The 3200 will support as many as 320 spans in a standard 19-inch x 72-inch rack. It is easily upgradeable, with hot-swap components that can be changed on the fly without interrupting voice services.”
A New Era in Telecommunications Security and Management
“With our ETM Platform, SecureLogix is introducing a new era in telecommunications security and management,” stated Lee Sutterfield, President of SecureLogix. He added, “By completely centralizing the security and management of an enterprise’s telecommunications systems, the ETM Platform provides an unprecedented level of visibility into the enterprise infrastructure. The combination of this secure, scalable, remotely managed platform and our emerging applications suite allows you to remove security vulnerabilities and reduce operational costs, while providing the migration strategy to a managed, secure converged network.”
