The Silver Screen Comes Alive At One Of The World’s Most Iconic Hotels As The Peninsula Hong Kong Launches

The “Movies Under The Stars” Experience

There are few more cinematic locations in the world than Hong Kong, and the city has provided both the inspiration and the backdrop for some of the most memorable films of all time. Drawing on this enchanting strand of cultural heritage, The Peninsula Hong Kong is hosting a season of exclusive film screenings from October 2016 to March 2017 on the iconic hotel’s 7th-floor Sun Terrace. Featuring unrivalled views of the Hong Kong Island skyline and Victoria Harbour, as well as the luxurious surroundings and attention to detail for which The Peninsula is renowned, the “Movies under the Stars” experience is a truly unmissable treat for film buffs and casual viewers alike.

Tapping into the tradition of rooftop cinemas and adding The Peninsula’s own unique twist, the screenings will take place alfresco on the Sun Terrace, with a host of special added touches designed to create magical memories for couples, families and friends. To offer the best viewing experience possible, films will be shown on a high-definition LED screen, while guests will be able to relax in their choice of plush furniture, including comfy beanbags. Popcorn, drinks and a host of other nibbles and refreshments will also be on hand for guests to graze on throughout the film.

Designed to resemble the deck of a yacht or cruise liner floating in the harbour, The Peninsula’s Sun Terrace is one of Hong Kong’s most enviable settings. As well as the jaw-dropping harbour panorama, the space itself is a feast for the eyes, with teak planking and high-quality wooden furniture upholstered in green and white by French brand Triconfort giving the space a fresh and elegant feel.

Programmed to tie in with the season, each movie has been chosen according to a theme that is relevant to that particular month.
