Minutes of the meeting held on 7th December were confirmed as a correct record.

The Clerk reported that Inspector Owens had been contacted in relation to the item, however, she was still awaiting a response, the item to remain on the agenda.

77. TO RECEIVE AN UPDATE FROM POLICE MEMBERS

PCSO Rhys Sanders introduced new PCSO Abigail Land who will be training with PCSO Sanders prior to starting her role in Gresford. PSCO Sanders then reported on the statistics for last month to the same period of last year. Members received a copy.

PCSO Rhys Sanders reported that following a warrant conducted at Ty Wesley, a male was

found who had been wanted for a period of time.

78POLICE/RHOS COMMUNITY COUNCIL MONTHLY STRATEGY PLAN

Priorities were discussed by members.

Priorities set as:

  1. (a) Off Road Bikes/(b)Speeding –(a) Priority to continue(b) Priority to continue. Speeding remains an issue in the community. Speed camera now situated on Stryt Las until February.,
  2. Obstruction Parking – Priority to continue.
  3. Inspector’s priority – Domestic Violence – Priority set by Inspector Steve Owens to remain. Councillor A Roberts clarified that they were not asking for specifics, however, general figures in order to help understand thescale of the problem. The Clerk reported that Sgt Jason Burns had agreed to try and break the figures down to show the incidents separately

Councillor P.H Pemberton reiterated that no mention had been made in the past about the un-enforcement of 20mph. He passed on thanks to Sgt Jason Burns for all his help with the matter and also Constable Anja McCloud from Mold who has been carrying out a speed project in the area and has seen encouraging results. The Clerk reported that Constable McCloud had looked at school term dates and asked for information on problematic areas. PCSO stated that the Police had been advising the public of the speed exercises being carries out through social media. They have also been working with speed guns with members of the public and local school children. Councillor A Roberts suggested contactingthe MPs and AMs and to copy Arfon Jones regarding the Go Safe partnership, Councillor D A Bithell confirmed that WCBC were already in the process of doing this and requested that the Clerk send a letter of support instead.

80REPORTS FROM COUNCILLORS

80.1 Councillor H.J Jones reported Hall Street in Rhos was a speeding hotspot. Hall Street is currently on the list for the speed camera to be placed.

80.2 Councillor S Jones advised that people were being named on social media in reference tostolen cars. PCSO Sanders explained that they are aware of several locals in the area who they monitor and will stop and check them if they felt they are involved.

80.3 Councillor S Jones explained that he had pulled over to assist an elderly lady who had broken down on the bypass. He had tried calling 101 for a long period without success and was also charged quite considerably for the calls. Several Councillors agreed to attend an open visit to the 101 call centre in the bear future. There is also an alternative free number you can use – 0300 330 0101.
