Dear Parents:

I have some really exciting news about a program in which Lake Pointe is becoming involved.

The National Dairy Council® (NDC) and the National Football League (NFL) -- in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) -- are making a long-term commitment to America’s youth with a school-based nutrition and fitness initiative called Fuel Up to Play 60. The initiative gets students involved in creating a healthier school environment that promotes student health, learning and achievement. Through Fuel Up to Play 60, students will pledge to choose more nutritious foods (including low-fat and fat-free dairy foods, fruits, vegetables and whole grains), get 60 minutes of physical activity every day, and encourage their friends, family and entire school to join them – and have fun too!

Our school is part of a select group from across the country participating in Fuel Up to Play 60. Because your child is a student at Lake Pointe, I want your child to be a part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 School Team that will lead the initiative in our school. This initiative will provide your child with a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills and make positive changes in the school nutrition and fitness environment.

I am applying for a grant from this program that will allow us to have more exciting PE equipment as well as a SALAD BAR in the cafeteria!! Yes, a SALAD BAR! I am asking for your support in getting your child involved in Fuel Up to Play 60. The first thing you need to do is register your child online at FuelUpToPlay60.com. This is a great program and it is really striving to influence the young children of America to become more physically active and to choose healthy eating. For more information on Fuel Up to Play 60 and the important role your child will play in our school, please visit FuelUpToPlay60.com.

I am thrilled about this opportunity and I hope you will help us in being successful. Thank you for your time and support.

Sincerely,

Coach Franklin
