PACKAGE WORKER - PALLETIZER

DEPARTMENT: Production REPORTS TO: Packaging Lead/Superintendent FLSA: Non-exempt

SUMMARY

Performs a variety of production related tasks in packaging areas to ensure efficient plant operations and product quality through tasks such as making boxes, packaging finished product, product inspection, and area cleanup.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Duty/Responsibility
1.  Assembles finished products by stacking, bagging and boxing while ensuring quality and product consistency.
2.  Prepares packaging area for production run by making boxes and setting up bagging stations.
3.  Performs general cleanup of area during and at the end of the shift to include sweeping and garbage and cardboard removal.
4.  Assists processing team as needed with line work such as monitoring trim and rework, filling flour sifters and monitoring paper cutters.
5.  All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs assigned duties under general supervision and does not perform any supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or Equivalent or a combination of education and experience. Production experience is helpful, but not required.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of:

·  Personal hygiene and food handling principles.

·  Basic understanding of HACCP and GMP’s.

SKILLS

Skill in:

·  Ability to speak and understand English.

·  Physical dexterity, including quick hand movements.

·  Basic Math Skills, such as counting.

·  Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
