TheMFSRBushFestivalPoetryMusicCompetitionstartedin 1995isnowregardedas oneofthemost prestigiouseventsin thecountry.Wearedelightedto announcethat in 2016 the VictorianBushPoetryChampionships willagain be includedwithin theMFSRprogrammeofevents (with$300in cash

& prizesavailableforourJunior contestants). ( AllJuniorentrantsreceive acertificatealso).

Championshipsaim:“Tofosterencouragechildrenyouthtojoinus inlearning the skillsofwritingandperformingAustralianBushVerse”. Entriesfor allsectionsshouldbeabout Australia,Australiansand/or theAustralianway oflifeandhave goodrhymemetre.

Judgesforour 2016 WrittenandPerformanceJunior sections have yet to be determined.

IntheJuniorPerformancesectionweencourageparticipation byindividuals,duos’,families, groups orgradesofchildren/youngadultswith a$2.00entryfee perindividualentry (be that entryan individual,duo, family, grouporgradeentry). Individual children/youngadultsmayappearonemore timeinthiscompetition as part ofaduo, familygroup or gradepresentation.

Familyfriends arewelcometo assist junior performersonstage andprops aredefinitelyencouraged,butour judgingwill focusonthe child/children/young adultonthe entryformand onthe entertainment valuethattheyprovide.

IntheJuniorPerformancesectioncontestantsmayperformoriginal ornon-originalpoems (eitherTraditional or Modern)or presentworksfrom Australianpicturebooks.

IntheJuniorPerformancesectionspecial“SpiritofMateship” trophieswill be awarded to PrimarySecondary studentswhoseperformancesbest depict mateship, equality,loyalty friendship.(bothoriginal

non-originalentries).

TheJunior Performancesection will be heldfromapprox.12.30pmonThursday31st MarchintheLionsYouth Hall.ThursdaysJuniorWinners areinvited toperformagainonSundaythe 3rd April@ Lions youth Hall(approx. 2.00pm). ThursdaysJuniorWinnersarealsoinvited to performatthePoet’sBreakfastsheld atBanjo’sBlockonFri,SatSunmornings(approx8.00 -10.00am).

IntheJuniorWrittensectionwealsoencourageparticipation byindividuals,duos, groups or gradesofchildren/youngadultswith a$2.00entryfee perindividualentry.(Meaningthatentriesin theJuniorWritten section canbetheoriginalworkofan individualora collaborativeeffort between aduo, group orgrade). IntheJuniorWritten sectionweprefer that the entriesbe printedandweencouragedecoration of same.

PoemsintheJunior Written section will be judgedbeforethe Festival and thewinnersannouncedattheFestival Thursday31st March inthe LionsYouthHal(approx. 2.00pm).There will also be a“BushCostume” competitionwithprizesawarded to bothperformersandaudiencemembersalike.

TheJunior PerformanceWritten sectionsarewhere the‘stars ofthefuture’areborn. Many ofourJuniorcontestantsarenowprizewinnersin theAdultPoetrysections ofourcompetition!Don’t missyouropportunitytoPerformwitha Legendbyjoininginwith ourcompetitionsor Poet’sBreakfasts!

LikewisewewillbeusingtheABPAapproved“PerformanceAssessmentSheet”(Child) forentrantsupto12yearsofageandthe“PerformanceAssessmentSheet”(Adult)forentrantsbetween13-17years.WewillalsobeusingtheABPAapproved“Written Group AssessmentSheet”(Child)forentrantsupto7, “Written AssessmentSheet”(Child)for children 8-12 yearsandthe“WrittenAssessmentSheet”(Adult)forentrantsbetween13-17years.

SectJuniorWritten:Thereare4agegroupsinthissection.(1)PreptoGrade2,(2)Grade3or4,(3)Grade5or6,(4)SecondaryYears7-12.Therearenolinelimitsorrestrictionsonnumberofentries.$2.00perentryperagegroup.Wepreferentriestobetypedon1sideofA4paperpleasehoweverhandwrittenentriesareacceptableprovidedtheyarelegible.OriginalworkONLY.Only1copyofeachentryrequired.

TiedscoreswillbeseparatedbyusingthesystemdescribedontheappropriateRankOrderTallySheets.

Wereservetherighttopublish,recordorreproduceworksubmitted(©retainedbywriter/performer/s).

AParent,TeacherorGuardianmustsignonbehalfofJuniorCompetitionentrantsintheappropriatespotonthe

“EntrantsDeclarationFees”sectiononpage3ofthisdocument.

Studentsmayfilloutotherdetailsonsaid“EntryForms”butthewritingmustbelegible.Thenamesforcertificateswillbetakenfromthesehandwrittenportionsofthe“EntryForms”onpage3.
