Star 33 MM
AGELESS FEMININITY
Zenith is one of the rare watch Manufacturers to have succeeded over the decades in creating timeless watches – naturally including models dedicated to women – for almost 150 years. The Star collection is enriched this year with three new versions of the Star 33 mm watch, featuring an understated cushion-shaped case housing a delicate mechanism. Available this year in white or rose gold, including one model entirely set with brilliant-cut diamonds, these new 2014 releases will doubtless appeal to a woman looking for a timepiece that resembles her.
ZENITH AND WOMEN, AN enduring LOVE STORY.
Zenith’s visionary founder Georges Favre-Jacot was known for taking good care of his employees. For his single female employees, he had dedicated housing built in districts of Le Locle, the small town in the Jura mountains of Switzerland where he established his production premises – the first watchmaking Manufacture in the industrial sense of the term. Over the years, this revolutionary entrepreneur consistently expressed through watchmaking his love for women – a passion that has continued to pervade the company since 1865. The spirit of the House has naturally resulted in ladies’ models also imbued with daring and authenticity: from the pocket watches of the early decades to the complicated wristwatches of today, as well as pendant jewellery watches, ladies’ watches are an enduring love story for Zenith – and one that is regularly nurtured by fresh “declarations”.
the three new faces of timeless ELEGANCe.
The Star 33 mm radiates the charm of watches capable of combining seductive appeal with horological excellence. At once classic in terms of its understated shape and yet timeless through the elegance of its style, it now comes in a range of three models that assert themselves with self-evident force. While the dimensions of its case are now well known and feature in its name, the design of the Star 33 mm 2014 is strikingly pared-down and adorned only with essentials – the sparkle of diamonds – denoting an authentic character that transcends ephemeral trends.
Three interpretations are now available: a model for daytime wear, another for the evening, as well as a gala watch. The first has an understated white mother-of-pearl dial set with 12 brilliant-cut hour-markers and rimmed by an inner bezel ring adorned with 72 VVS diamonds of the same size (approx. 0.45 cts). The second model, with a dial bearing just 12 diamonds serving as hour-markers, is distinguished by a bezel set with 104 brilliant-cut VVS diamonds (approx. 0.74 cts) along with a buckle set with 42 diamonds of the same quality and size (0.28 cts). The third watch is a dazzling creation featuring a case, bezel, dial and pin buckle entirely set with 765 diamonds totalling 4.49 cts. Truly spectacular!
While these two-hand models water-resistant to 30 metres and measuring just 9.45 mm thickdo not house any horological complications, they are driven by an Elite 681 ultra-thin automatic Manufacture movement beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and endowed with a minimum 50-hour power reserve. The delicacy of this high-precision mechanical marvel whose oscillating weight is decorated with a Côtes de Genève motif – a signature of high-end movements – may be admired through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback.

Founded in Le Locle in 1865 by a visionary watchmaker, Georges Favre-Jacot, the Manufacture Zenith earned swift recognition for the precision of its chronometers with which it has won 2,333 chronometry prizes in a century and a half of existence: an absolute record in terms of pocket watches, onboard timers and wristwatches. Having earned fame thanks to its legendary El Primero calibre – an integrated automatic column-wheel chronograph movement launched in 1969 and endowed with a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour that ensures short-time measurements accurate to the nearest 1/10th of a second – the Manufacture Zenith has since developed over 600 movement variations. This Manufacture currently stands at the exact spot where its founder built the first company workshop, thereby physically embodying a continuity that is a rarity in itself.
