Sales Manager Clothing Collection Division (Wellingborough and Field Based)

Salary up to £45,000 plus car or travel

Strategic responsibility:

·  Identify and develop new partners for local and regional clothing bank sites

·  Full responsibility for the management of key relationships

·  Management of Local Authority tender process

·  Manage hierarchy of clothing banks sites in terms of volume generation and quality of donations

Responsible to:

Head of Clothing Collection Division

Main Responsibilities:

·  Promote the values and work of Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd - established to create jobs, to benefit the environment and – through profitable trading – help fund The Salvation Army’s work in the United Kingdom

·  To manage the relationships through the sales team with existing partners. Proactively contacting partners to maintain a consistent high level of service delivery, whilst identifying further new business opportunities

·  Lead tender process for Local Authority and other relevant opportunities

·  Meeting with partners face to face to promote the business through presentations, audit findings and other account analysis

·  Providing unique environmental and charitable activity reporting to customers

·  Ensure that annual volume targets are delivered

·  Regularly review the market for collected and donated clothing. Develop business cases for new methods/channels to receive donations of good quality clothes and other relevant products

·  Develop and lead new initiatives through the trial and evaluation phases

·  Develop new promotional opportunities with customers that delivers additional income, PR and client recognition of the partnership value of The Salvation Army

·  Continuously develop industry knowledge to ensure that post holder is up to date with competitors and innovation

·  Management of exhibitions and sales events

·  Manage and develop the sales team to deliver extraordinary results

·  Project managing the implementation of any new services

·  Formulate communication plans to support developments

·  Implement and embed the CCD vision across the UK and create a culture of high performance, excellent execution, first class standards and a passion for delivery across all locations through timely, effective and clear communications

·  Ensure that the sales team consistently delivers an exceptional customer experience for new and in life customers as measured through customer experience feedback

·  Create and manage a comprehensive process to ensure that all members of the sales team are reviewed regularly in line with company targets, priorities and benchmarks and take necessary action to make improvements and deliver strategic goals

·  Maintain robust relationships with the central CCD and across all functions to work collaboratively and productively.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

·  To be in empathy with the mission and values of The Salvation Army and have a willingness to promote that mission

·  5 years experience in Sales Management in well known B to C and/or B to B environments

·  Strong sales management and relationship building skills

·  Excellent presentational skills

·  Excellent interpersonal skills

·  Highly self motivated

·  Experience in creating and delivering sales development strategies

·  Stakeholder management

·  Project management experience and skills

·  Graduate calibre

·  Intermediate PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills

·  Strong numeracy skills with demonstrable profit and loss account responsibility

·  Strong analytical skills, able to test theory in a constructive and logical manner

Preferred

·  An understanding of the charity and donation sector

·  Experience of recycling and reuse processes

·  Good balance of being able to work with the ‘big picture’ and interpret it as well as effectively working with detail

·  Evidence in creating new markets or services

·  Able to keep calm in a crisis and work under pressure

·  Self starter and sees activities through to completion

·  High level of personal integrity

·  Ability to prioritise and manage the resolution of multiple tasks simultaneously
