Welcome back to the start of an exciting new term. May we take this opportunity to wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2016.
MINDFULNESS
Children face an enormous amount of change during primary school.
They have new emotions to deal with and new challenges each day.
With this in mind the PTA are funding a four week programme for all pupils and staff which will take place during the spring term. This programme will teach a range of techniques that will help them face those challenges and deal with those emotions effectively.
The Resilience for Children programme will teach children the following
life skills:
• How to think positively
• How to trust their own instincts
• How to embrace new ideas and situations
• How to relax
• How to find the good in every situation
• How to manage emotions
• How to choose their response
• How to practice appreciation
• How to be emotionally resilient
Staff will be trained to continue the techniques with the children and a parent workshop will be held on Tuesday 9th February for any parents who wish to develop these techniques at home. Further details will follow
SWIMMING
Swimming will commence for Year 3 pupils from Thursday 7th January. Please ensure your child brings their swimming kit each week.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
12th February – Parent Assembly – 9 am – Year 4 children will lead this assembly.
Parents and family are invited to join us for our sharing assembly.
School finishes at normal time on Friday 12th February at 3.15 pm and re-opens on Monday 22nd February
29th February - 3rd March – Maths Week – detail to follow – Parent Workshop
4th March – World Book Day Celebration – Children can dress up as their favourite character
9th March - Sellafield Y3 and Y6
21st -24th March - Book Fair
22nd March – Parents Evening – (4 pm –6.30 pm)
23rd March - Parents Evening – (5 pm – 8 pm)
Thursday 24th March – school closes for the end of term at 3.15 pm. Please note there will be no parent assembly on this day.
