Rajkot District

1.In the Old State time there was Government of Bombay. Before formation of the Gujarat State there was Madhya Saurashtra Judicial District and Rajkot was included therein. There was Main Sessions Division of Madhya Saurashtra Judicial District, having places of sitting at Rajkot, Morvi and Gondal as per notification of Home Department, Sachivalaya, Bombay dated 23.03.1959. There were Courts of District & Sessions Court, Rajkot, Civil Judge, Senior Division at Rajkot, Gondal and Morvi, Civil Judge, Junior Division, Jetpur, Dhoraji, Upleta, Wankaner, as per Home Department Resolution No.SRO.1059/5329-III, dated 01.05.1959 of the Government of Bombay. Thereafter, Rajkot District in the new State of Gujarat was formed.

2.At present in Rajkot District following courts (11 Appellate + 43 Subordinate = 54 Courts) are functioning and presided over by the Judicial Officers in Rajkot District.

1.The Principal District Judge Court, Rajkot.

2.The Additional District Judge Court, Rajkot / Gondal.

3.The Presiding Officer, Fast Track Court at Rajkot / Morvi / Gondal camp at Dhoraji / Jetpur-Upleta (Total 8 Courts)

4.The Principal / Additional Senior Civil Judge, Rajkot / Gondal / Dhoraji / Morvi.

5.The Principal / Additional Civil Judge, Gondal / Jetpur / Dhoraji / Upleta / Jasdan / Wankaner / Morvi / Rajkot.

6.The Judge / Addl. Judge, Small Causes Court, Rajkot.

7.The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rajkot.

8.The J.M.F.C., Rajkot.

9.The J.M.F.C. (Traffic / Municipal / Railways), Rajkot.

10.The Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board, Rajkot.

3.At Maliya-Miyana Taluka there is a Link Court for 10 days in a month commencing from 2nd Monday of every calendar month. The said court is being presided over by the Additional Civil Judge & J.M.F.C., Morbi.

4.There is one Sessions Division at the head quarter Rajkot and two sub divisions at Gondal and Morvi. There is Sessions Sub Division at Gondal having jurisdiction of Gondal, Jetpur, Dhoraji and Upleta Taluka. Similarly, there is Sessions Division at Morbi having jurisdiction of Morvi, Wankaner and Maliya-Miyana Taluka. Previously the Extra Assistant Judges were presiding over the courts at Gondal and Morvi. During old State time there were sub divisions at Gondal and Morvi in this District and at present they are in existence.

5.The place of sitting of the Additional Sessions Judge, Gondal is at the original place where it was working. While the place of sitting of the Presiding Officer, Fast Track Court, Morvi (In-charge Additional District Judge Court, Morvi) is at the Fast Track Court Building, Lal Baug Campus, Morvi. Previously the said court was presided over by the Extra Assistant Judge and place of sitting was at Mani Mandir, Morvi.

6.The 2nd Additional Senior Civil Judge & J.M.F.C., Rajkot is also presiding over as Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board, Rajkot for two days in a week.

7.At present almost Courts have their independent court buildings, which have been recently constructed. In Rajkot District independent Fast Track Court building have also been constructed at Rajkot, Morvi and Dhoraji. The construction of new Fast Track Court building is under progress. A new Civil Court building has also been recently constructed at Rajkot in the old Civil Court compound. The said court building is having 7 Floors and all Civil Courts and Small Causes Courts have been accommodated there in.

8.The Court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class (Railways), Rajkot has been situated in the compound of Rajkot Railway Junction.
