TENNIS RULES AND REGULATIONS
General Rules
Regulation tennis shoes (soft soles and no heels) must be worn. No jogging shoes, non-skid soles, no-mar shoes, nor bare feet are permitted.
Only regulation tennis apparel is permitted. No cut-offs, tank tops, jeans or street clothes are permitted.
Basic etiquette shall be maintained on and around the tennis courts at all times.
All members need to sign in at the Pro Shop before any activity.
Pro Shop Hours
Monday – Friday 8:30 am until 10:00 pm
Saturday – 8:00 am until 8:00 pm
Sunday – 8:30 am until 8:00 pm (Memorial weekend through Labor Day)
Sunday – 8:30 am until 6:00 pm(after Labor Day)
Court Reservations - Members Must Check in at the Pro Shop Upon Arrival
Teams and individuals must always check with the Pro Shop attendant before using a court that is not assigned to you.
TEAM PRACTICES are scheduled to begin two weeks prior to season start date. Captains must confirm with their teammates on a weekly basis that they have players planning to attend each practice, or the court must be canceled. If team practice courts go unused twice, practice courts will be removed from the court sheets for the duration of the season.
Teams that make play-offs need to speak to Janis in the Pro Shop to let her know if team will continue using a practice court. We cannot guarantee the same court will be available during play-offs.
- Calls for reservations will be taken starting at 8:30 am each morning.
- Members may call 2 days in advance for court reservations.
- Members may request to reserve a court for singles (1 ½ hours) or doubles (2 hours).
- One court may be reserved per each phone call.
- Teams are given a 1 ½ hour practice court per week beginning two weeks prior to the season start date throughout the 7 week season.
- Team Captains may call 1 day in advance to reserve a 2nd practice court.
- Team Captains may call the day of play to request a 3rd court on match day.
- When a team makes it to play-offs, the captain must call Janis in the pro shop to schedule team practices during the play-off period.
- No reservations will be accepted from phone messages
- The staff will guarantee your reservation and try to honor court and surface requests, but will not give out the court assignment over the phone
- For court assignment, all members of the group must check in at the Pro Shop

- Juniors can reserve a tennis court on the day of play
- OTAC reserves the right to make changes due to weather and court maintenance issues
Court Assignment Pecking Order
- A scheduled match or play-off match
- Make-up matches
- Scheduled practice
- Lesson courts
- Social and regular reservations
Cancel Court Reservation when Unable to Play. As a courtesy to fellow members, you must cancel any court reservation that will not be used. Failure to do so by your scheduled time will result in a $25 fine for the person making the reservation. By canceling your court as soon as possible, it gives fellow members who are on the waiting list an opportunity to play.
10 - MINUTE Waiting Period
Iftwo or more members are not present at the time of their court reservation for doubles or singles,a 10-MINUTE waiting period will go into effect. At the end of the ten minute waiting period the court becomes available for walk-up reservations. This rule does not apply to league matches.
Guest Policy
- $7.50 Guest Fee for Outdoor Courts, FitnessCenter, and Pool
- $10 Guest Fee for Indoor Courts
- Guest(s) must fill out a Guest Registration Card and sign the Hold Harmless Agreement. Date of each visit will be recorded on the registration card.
- Members who do not sign their Guest(s) in, will receive a penalty charge of 3 times the Guest Fee
- If a Member sponsors the same guest more than six (6) times in a given year, the Member will be fined and/or Membership will be terminated
- A Guest may visit 6 times per calendar year (3 times for indoor courts)
- The Guest Policy does not apply to K-Swiss or T-2 visitors
Clay Courts
- Clay courts must be swept at the END of Play - including league matches. A warning will be issued the first time a court is not swept, a $10 fine will be assessed to the member who made the reservation the second time a court is not swept, member who made the reservation will lose clay court playing privileges for one week the third time a court is not swept.
Inclement Weather Policy
- If Cobb County Schools are closed, OTAC will be closed – club will post club closing(s) on website ( and will change phone voicemail recording appropriately
- Rain/Wet Courts – Members/teams & visiting teams must be prepared to squeegee courts as needed
- Ice on Courts – Attempting to remove ice from the courts can be harmful to the courts - the ice must be allowed to melt, followed by the use of squeegee’s
K-Swiss and T2 Court Reservations
Member can call more than 48 hours in advance.Due to high court demand on Tues., Wed., and Thurs. K-Swiss and T2 between reservations cannot be played between 5 and 8 pm on those evenings. No more than 2 (two) K-Swiss or T2 matches can be scheduled in the same time slot. Hard Courts only can be reserved on Friday's from 3 - 6 pm and Sunday mornings 9 am–Noon. Please specify K-Swiss or T2when making court reservations so that the Pro Shop attendant will allow 2 hoursfor the match. An Olde Towne member must be partnered with a fellow member to participate in T-2 doubles league play.
Junior T-2 Court Reservations
Junior T-2 matches can be played on a Saturday or Sunday only. Juniors may call one day in advance to reserve a hard court (clay courts cannot be reserved). If indoor courts are not scheduled, juniors may reserve an indoor court for T-2 matches without charge.

Private and Group lessons are available. Please inquire in the Pro Shop for rates and scheduling.
Lesson & Clinic Cancellation
To cancel a lesson, please call the Pro Shop no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Cancellations after 24 hours or no notification will result in full payment assessed for the missed lesson.
Tennis Activities Sign-Up
Sign up sheets for all member events and activities will be on the large board in the Pro Shop.
Designated Smoking Area
The Special Event Veranda.
OTAC Towels
A towel sign-out and return form is in the Pro Shop. If a staff member is not present, please take a towel and record name and towel number. Check your name off the form when used towel is returned.
Daily Lockers
Members may sign for a daily locker key in the Pro Shop. Please return the key to the Pro Shop and mark the key as returned on the sign-out sheet. Failure to return the locker key will result in a $10 fee assessed to your house account. Members may also rent a personal locker annually for a fee of $50 for a half locker and $100 for a full locker.
