Ocean County Mall Cruise A Big Success

When the Museum and the Club work together, good things happen. Dave Lange, member of both, saw an opportunity to expand antique vehicle activity by starting a Mall Cruise for all to enjoy. The first one was on July 22nd. Over 170 beautiful cars and hundreds of spectators turned out to enjoy the spacious Mall parking lot, Music Man Bob (Robert Clark 732-269-4057), discounted food & drinks and a Corvette raffle. It was a very good time.

Dave Lange at the first Ocean County Mall Cruise. Thank you to Museum Executive Director, Dave DiEugenio, and Mall management Peter Lembo and Susan Howlett for processing this event and to Captain Bill Cusick, Pleasant Plains First Aid and the Toms River Twp. Police for providing a safe environment for all to enjoy. An estimated 800 cars attended this year.

THANK YOU MAYOR GARY & NICKI GIBERSON

We had a great time at the picnic. There were 25 antique cars plus 45 guests and a mountain of good food to provide entertainment and enjoyment for everyone. Below is Kevin Donahue’s beautiful 1959 Mercury parked in front of Mayor Gary’s garage. The Mayor told Museum members that this garage including the related memorabilia will be donated to our Museum. Thank you for your outstanding support and encouragement as we approach final approval to build the Museum.

JIM MAYLAND SAID, “THE MUSEUM LIBRARY HAS BEGUN”

Jim Mayland of Barnegat, long time Club & Museum member, lost his battle with cancer on August 24, 2009. Jim donated large numbers of books, related articles and information to our Museum. He was designated Museum Library Coordinator to begin this important part of our development. We appreciate your dedication to the Museum and know you will be with us on opening day.

MUSEUM OF NEW JERSEY MARITIME HISTORY, Inc.

What a wonderful night. Ms. Debbie Whitcraft, Museum NJMH President and founder invited our Museum members, to the 75th Anniversary of the Morro Castle cruise ship disaster. Drivers and their passengers were treated to Oldies Entertainment, a pig roast, seafood raw bar, a wine tasting booth and award winning deserts by Crust ‘N Crumb Bakery. The highlight of the evening was a visit inside the Museum to see beautifully displayed artifacts, photographs, videotapes and information about NJ Maritime History. Our vintage cars helped bring guests “back in time” for the celebration. The Museum is located on Dock St. in Beach Haven and you are invited to attend. Thank you Debbie.

VAMNJ Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the Seaside Heights Community Center, 1000 Bay Blvd. At 7:17 PM. Please come!

WE HAVE A WINNER

Mary Ann Simon of Middleboro, Mass. is the proud winner of our 1968 Corvette. Our 2009 raffle car turned out to be one of the best fun raisers in Museum history. Thank you Gary Murphy for donating the Corvette to benefit our building fund. And thank you to all the Museum members and friends who sold tickets and who bought tickets. It was a lot of work but well worth the effort.
