The Center works with tribal communities to conduct research and create education programs that inspire Native students to do well in school, learn about their tribal culture, and prepare to excel in college.

  • As an admin, I oversee administrative tasks, ensure daily office functionsare complete, and work closely with the Senior Business Operations Specialistto create appointments (using Microsoft Outlook), monitor calendars, and manage Advantage accounting system (including occasional use of Excel). As a research-scholar I am responsible for overseeing and training a small research team and work closely with the Assistant Research Professor toconduct research database searches, track and collect data, identify sources for literature reviews,create files, and influence research design. I am also responsible for preparing references lists and formatting professional manuscripts for publication. Occasionally, I manage the social media account and have taken over the website Update for the Center for Indian Education (2017-2018) which entails:

-Taking professional headshots for personnel page

-Setting up meetings

-Outlining a schedule for project

-Creating 30 second videos to add to the website

-Leading two freshman scholars on website design, scheduling and project layout

As a part of our growing center we acquired a new space in 2017-2018 and I am the lead on the design team which has entailed:Assigning researchers to find artwork, furniture and other office space design ideas, create possible layouts while working closely with the administrative assistant on acquiring the space and the needed materials for use of space. I have recently began coordinating photography for the Turning Points magazine and started training the new researchers for the Indian Education (2016-2018): Teaching incoming undergraduate staff morning tasks: Conference room set up, emails, timesheets, Printer and ink checks and mail pick up, proper project layout, research theories and book chapter writing, proper ways to read journal articles and the key points to take away and using research databases to find articles, specifically the ASU library which contains: JAIE, Google Scholar, ProQuest, EbscoHost etc. Lasly, I prepare multi-media presentations, academic documents, infographics and other literature for local community partners.
