The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31 December 2016. People currently working towards this replaced qualification must complete the requirements by December 2018.

Purpose
This national certificate is designed for people who are employed in the fibreboard packaging industry, and who have already completed the National Certificate in Fibreboard Packaging (Carton Converting: Straight Line Folder Gluer) (Level 3) [Ref:0054].
Holders of this certificate have demonstrated competence in the knowledge and skills required by industry to make ready and run a straight line gluer with attachments, as well as four and six corner gluers, for production. They have also demonstrated a knowledge of business and quality principles.
Replacement Information
This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Printing (Paperboard Packaging (Carton): Right Angle Gluer Four Corner) (Level 4) [Ref:0047] and the National Certificate in Printing (Paperboard Packaging (Carton): Straight Line Folder Gluer) (Level 4) [Ref:0048].

Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.

Version 3 was reviewed and issued to take account of changes resulting from the review of the Paperboard Packaging (Carton) unit standards.
Changes to structure and content
- title of qualification has changed to reflect the reclassification
- titles of unit standards 3682 and 18245 have changed
- credits of unit standard 18245 have changed from 44 to 30
- credit total has decreased from 70 to 56.
This qualification contains standards that replaced earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.

Previous versions of the qualification
Version 2 was revised and issued in January 2004 to take account of changes resulting from the review of the core Printing Production unit standards. Unit standard 20057 replaced unit standard 339 and the credit total increased from 62 to 70.
Version 1 replaced the National Certificate in Printing (Paperboard Packaging (Carton): Right Angle Gluer Four Corner) (Level4) [Ref:0047] and the National Certificate in Printing (Paperboard Packaging (Carton): Straight Line Folder Gluer) (Level4) [Ref:0048].
