TRAINING BY CISEF GASLINI.
Gaslini is not just the name of the famous Pediatric Hospital in Genoa but
it’s also the name of a “system” that includes the GianninaGaslini Institute,
theGerolamoGaslini Foundation, GasliniOnlus as well as CISEF Gaslini.
The International Centre for Studies and Training GermanaGaslini, (shortenedCISEF Gaslini) does an important job: it plans, implements, hosts and distributes educational projects and training for medical staff and healthcare professionals. It was constituted in 2009 as a consortium between the Institute and the Foundation and it is hosted at Villa Quartara, a mansion surrounded by a park of more than 12 thousand square meters in the area of Quarto Castagna in Genoa.
The quality and the versatility of the rooms, the architectural prestige of the building and the beauty of the park of our venue help us to offer, besides the high scientific excellence of our courses and meetings, a pleasant learning environment for all our guests.
Working with scientists, hospital department directors, doctors, nurses, technicians and students reminds us daily of a very ancient but present-day sentence written by Montaigne: “Enseigner ne signifie pas remplirun vase maisallumer un feu” - Teaching does not mean to fill a vase but to light a fire. The passion for scientific knowledge of speakers, participants, trainers and trainees acknowledges and boosts their dedication and enthusiasm. The beauty of our job is that we can feel and see this every day.
With a staff of 25 employees organized into three Units, CISEF Gaslini guarantees a yearly average of 1000 days of residential events allowing the continuing education and training of 10000 people.
The UnitAttivitàFormativadell’Assistenza organizes courses and meetings mainly addressed to the Gaslini personnel and the Pediatric Nurse Course by the University of Genoa Medical School.
The goal of the Unit Attività Formative dellaRicerca is to foster the interaction and the cooperation between senior and junior researches both at a national and international level, as well as to update training for health care professionals in various specializations in the pediatric field.
The Congress&EventsUnitworks as a third party, which plans and organizes congresses and meetings in multiple fields, such as the scientific, biomedical, biotechnological and healthcare management on a national and international level. It works in collaboration with public and private organizations.
In the framework of the Italian Ministry of Health’s Program “Continuing Medical Education”, CISEF works as an accredited national provider of on-site courses, on-field training and distance learning for all health care professions.
Recently we have also been appointed the integrated communication of the Gaslini Institute and various projects of fundraising.
These jobs entail not only the responsibility but also the honor of working for the great Gaslini brand, alongside the most difficult and fascinating job in the world: the study and prevention of infants’ diseases and the care of sick children.
The history of the villa is long and curious. It was built in 1395 by Antonio Castagna and afterwards owned by the Spinola and Doria families alternatively until 1889, when it was bought by Lorenzo Quartara. By that time, he had transformed it: he expanded the main structure and had it decorated by painters according to the Genoese “barocchetto” style. The villa hosted pope Pio VII on his way back from France during his exile under Napoleon. As a matter of fact, part of the canopy of the bed he slept in is still preserved in one of our offices. Recently, in 1960, the Benedictines bought part of the park and MrQuartara gave them the villa entirely free of charge. It later became a Badia: where it was possible to pray, meditate and study, thanks to a library of more than 30 thousand volumes. In the early 2000s, the Benedictines passed on the estate to the GerolamoGasliniFoundation, that renovated it completely in order to host meetings and congresses organized by CISEF Gaslini.
