Cllr Devine reported;

-At a senior level Wiltshire Council are working on a Business plan which needs to incorporate a saving of £45 million

-Cllr Devine has requested a call-in for the Planning Application for the Lions Head pub in Winterslow

There are different guidelines which exist for dealing with planning applications for pubs and Wiltshire planning department will seek assistance on the application with regard to market values, trading position of the pub, etc.

-Cllr Devine has contacted Police Inspector Sparrow and P.C. Matt Holland with regard to the recent spate of burglaries in Winterslow and the surrounding areas whereby garden sheds, garages and outhouses have been broken into and several items have been stolen.

The local police will patrol the local villages during the night time hours if they are not on specific tasks.

-At the Area Board meeting the local Community Hubs were discussed and Cllr Britton reported the Parish Councils need to initiate a Business plan.

Footpaths

Cllr Robinson and the footpath group has actively been walking and monitoring the major footpaths in the village to ascertain whether they are in need of hedge / bush cutting.

The Winterslow walks booklet has been printed again and will be available free of charge at the village shop

If you are out and about walking around the village and notice overgrowth, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Parish Council or the Parish Clerk

Highways – Report from Wiltshire Council Highways Meeting

W.C. has budgeted £21 million for road repairs and £1.3 million for pot-hole repairs

W.C. will undertake 12 grass cuts a year

W.C. will fund a £1000 for Parish Councils who take over the ownership and management of W.C. owned play areas (if they are within the village)

W.C. has budgeted £2.5 million for litter picking

W.C. will clean the gullies once every two years, the ones that pose a Health & Safety issue will be cleaned on demand only

The P.C. would like to politely remind residents to cut back hedges/bushes if they are growing out into the road, especially Middleton Road and Gunville, as this can cause a hazard to motorists who may have restricted views.

Bonfires

The Parish Council would like to ask residents to be respectful when lighting bonfires in and around the village as there has been a couple of complaints regarding black smoke from residential bonfires, thank you.
