YOUNG CARER PROJECT WORKER

Grade:Scale H, Point 23 £20,849pro rata

Based at:Twigworth Court Business Centre

Hours:21hours per week

Contract:Permanent subject to funding.

JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to the provisionof youth work at GYC in consultation with young carers, Young Carers Group Workers andGYC Development staff.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To work in a way that is guided and led by the needs that young carers themselves identify.
  1. Toorganise, lead and facilitatea minimum of two regular young carer groups alongside sessional workers and volunteers. This will involve evening work.
  1. To work with the Development Worker (Youth Work) to develop and deliver GYC youth work including developing the group curriculum, young carers newsletter, and provision of short breaks..
  1. In liaison with GYC Development worker (Youth Work) to maintain good communication with Young Carers Group and Sessional Workers offering advice and guidance and ensuring that attendance records and session evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
  1. To contribute to ensuring that young carers are enabled to take a full and active part in informing service delivery including supporting the Young Carers Forum and promoting wider participation within the localities.
  1. To contribute to the ongoing assessment, review and support plans for young carers providing one to one supportwhere appropriate in agreement with the line management.
  1. To contribute to ensuring that young carers can access opportunities through the provision of safe transport including direct organisation, maintaining systems and developing new initiatives.
  1. To work in a multi-agency way maintaining good communication with GYC staff and other statutory, voluntary and community agencies in order to meet the needs of young carers.
  1. To attend regular supervision meetings and training opportunities in accordance with GYC’s Staff Development Policy.
  1. To assist in managing the administrative system of GYC, and to produce written reports, and maintain appropriate records as and when required by GYC.
  1. To represent GYC in a manner consistent with the highest professional standards reflecting GYC’s commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity.
  1. To keep abreast of, and follow at all times, national and local policy in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
  1. To undertake other duties which would reasonably fall within the remit of this post.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Provide day to day, informal supervision to Young Carer Group Workers, Sessional Workers and Volunteers.

The post involvesregular evening, and occasional weekend and residential work.
