Walgreens Adopts 28 Senior Centers in Tarrant County
Senior Citizen Services participants to receive support, volunteers, and wellness education.
Fort Worth, Texas (January 15, 2015)— Walgreens has adopted all 28 Senior Centers operated by Senior Citizen Services of Greater Tarrant County (SCS). Each Senior Center is partnering with its neighborhood Walgreens location to bring wellness education, medication reviews, and volunteers to the Senior Centers free of charge.
"Walgreens endeavors to support our communities by providing healthcare services, health and wellness resources, and outreach events. Our partnership with Senior Citizen Services of Greater Tarrant County allows us to further connect with Fort Worth area seniors and assist with medication management, preventative health and well-being education, and other healthcare needs. We’re very excited about this new partnership and look forward to being available for all Tarrant County seniors," said Edward Wickliff, Walgreens Community Leader.
Senior Center participants will receive information from Walgreens staff about important topics like vaccines, exercise, managing diabetes, heart disease, and more. Volunteers from Walgreens will visit Senior Centers to help with social activities like BINGO and parties.
“Participants at our Senior Centers now have an extra layer of support as they work to remain healthy and independent. By adopting all 28 of our Senior Centers, Walgreens has made a bold statement about the importance of providing wellness programs and medication management for the older adults in our community. The over 80-age group is the fastest growing population in America for the next 40 years. We are pleased to have a partner like Walgreens helping ensure the health and independence of older adults in Tarrant County,” said Jerome Mosman, Executive Director at SCS.
