Dear <BA First Name> <BA Last Name>,

On July 29, 2004, Oxford Health Plans and UnitedHealthcare announced their consolidation, uniting two highly complementary organizations. This meets an important need in the tri-state marketplace by offering employer groups a comprehensive healthcare solution. Customers can now benefit from Oxford’s regional expertise, with deep local relationships, along with access to UnitedHealthcare’s extensive national provider network.

UnitedHealthcare will be removing most insurance-based product options from the New Jersey small group market.[1] These products will be closely matched by new products offered by Oxford Health Plans.

What this means to you today

This change will not impact your company’s healthcare coverage or administration until your renewal date of <renewal date>.

What this means to you upon renewal

Effective <day before renewal date>, your current UnitedHealthcare insurance-based product will not be renewed. Prior to your renewal date of <renewal date>, your company will be presented with new, comparable plan options through Oxford Health Plans. We hope your company will choose to enroll with Oxford.

What this means to your employees

Employees can continue to use their benefits, under the terms of your current plan, until your renewal date of <renewal date>. If your company chooses to enroll with Oxford, your employees will enjoy a host of innovative Oxford programs and services. These include access to a series of discounts on health-related products and services through Healthy Bonus®, as well as a series of educational materials about such important health topics as asthma, diabetes, pregnancy, and more.

Please note that if your company chooses to enroll with Oxford, your employees will have access to the Oxford provider network. We do not expect significant access disruption for your employees. However, if an employee’s current UnitedHealthcare provider is not enrolled in Oxford’s provider network, he/she will receive appropriate notice for continuation of care, as required by law. Please note: Continuation of care is required for certain circumstances, which also determines the duration of the continuation period. Please refer to your Certificate of Coverage for more information.
