This checklist has been compiled by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority for schools to use to ensure that all study plan requirements have been metbefore the study plan is submitted for approval.

Instructions: Indicate Yes or No to the following statements. If your answer is No, please check the SAS study plan requirements for the relevant information to complete your study plan.

Course organisation

The course organisation shows: / Yes / No
  • an overview of the four-semester course showing sequences of core and elective study

  • proposed time allocation for each unit, ensuring the minimum number of hours of 55 hours per semester

  • units of work across the four-semester course of study that meet syllabus requirements (Section 3.2 of the syllabus) by including:
the four areas of study for aquatic activities: Environmental, Recreational, Commercial and Cultural
core topics for Safety and management practices for aquatic activities embedded in each of the four areas of study in Year 11 and in Year 12
each core topic addressed at least once across the four-semester course
a minimum of four and a maximum of eight units of work.

Assessment plan

The assessment plan indicates: / Yes / No
  • the assessment instruments to be implemented (as outlined in Section 4.4 of thesyllabus)

  • the assessment techniques that meet syllabus requirements (Section 4.4 of thesyllabus)

  • the conditions of implementation of assessment (e.g. time allowed, length required, supervised/unsupervised, seen/unseen, using sources and/or notes, open book) (Section 4.4 of the syllabus)

  • the dimensions being assessed in each instrument

  • exit folio requirements are met, as outlined in Section 4.5 of the syllabus andinclude:
a minimum of four and a maximum of six assessment instruments
evidence of student work from Semesters 3 and 4 only
evidence of all dimensions being assessed at least twice
at least one instrument that assesses all three dimensions
no more than two instruments from any one technique
  • a student profile that corresponds to the assessment plan.
