Promoted by Nagarjuna Education Society, this is the most sought after college in the region. The institute offers eight B.Tech. Degree programmes, five M. Tech. programmes, MBA and MCA.
R.V.R. & J.C. College of Engineering is one of the few engineering colleges that were accredited four times in 1998, 2002, 2007 and 2012. The college consistently figured among the top 100 engineering colleges in the country and was awarded the Best Performing Engineering College in the Acharya Nagarjuna University Examination results for the last five consecutive years. Further, the college is graded as AA+ by Careers 360 magazine in May, 2012.
IGS-GUNTUR CHAPTER
Inaugurated in the year 2003, IGS Guntur Chapter has been one of the most vibrant chapters of the national professional body. The chapter, which has over 200 members, has organized several conferences, seminars and work-shops during the last ten years, the most significant beig IGC-2009.
ABOUT DEPT.OF CIVIL ENGG.
The department of Civil Engineering, established in 1985, offers B.Tech programme in Civil Engineering and
M. Tech programme in Structural Engineering. The department has well experienced and committed teaching staff and highly skilled and motivated technical staff to provide quality education. Civil Engineering department is accredited and awarded ‘A’ grade three consecutive times, the most recent being in 2007. The Department has well established and state-of- the-art laboratories to cater to the needs of the students. The departmenttakes active role in conducting seminars, workshops etc. in all major disciplines of Civil Engineering.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR
Expansive soils, popularly called black cotton soils in India, pose serious challenges to the civil engineers the world over. A lot of research has been carried out in this country itself during the last five decades to provide solutions to the problems created by these soils. But, yet, there is no proper understanding of the behaviour of these soils among the civil engineering community. Time-worn and moth-eaten practices continue to be practised as a result of which structures built on them suffer distress. To create proper awareness, we are providing a platform from which experts, who have contributed significantly in the area of expansive soils, will deliver technical talks. Identification, characterization, measurement of swelling characteristics, foundation techniques, stabilization and a few case studies involving expansive clays will be dealt with during the day-long seminar. Academics, including researchers and students, field engineers and professional practitioners are advised to make use of this unique opportunity and enrich their knowledge and professional skills.
