2016 INLINE HOCKEY AUSTRALIA NATIONAL TEAMS

Inline Hockey Australia is seeking applications for the position of Team Managers for 2016 National Teams. When applying you should clearly indicate which age division and tournament you are nominating to manage. A prerequisite in submitting your EOI is that you are in attendance at the 2015 National In line Hockey Championships being held in Logan, QLD. The proposed vacant positions are as follows:

1. Qualifications and Experience:

a)  Previous experience as a team manager at an international inline hockey competition is desirable however applicants with considerable experience as team manager of State Teams at National Championships, who can demonstrate a good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a team manager of inline hockey teams should apply.

b)  Renew your 2016 ILHA membership by 21 January 2016.

c)  Be in good standing of Inline Hockey Australia.

d)  Must complete the National Team Manager Training Course.

e)  Require a good understanding of respective Rules and Regulations of In line Hockey at an international level

f)  Demonstrated planning and organisational skills

g)  Capable of driving a manual small transport vehicle both within Australia and overseas (e.g. up to 15 person vehicle & trailer) and ability to apply for an international motor vehicle driver’s license.

h)  Must have a current email address as well as basic computer skills for communicating with the Chef de Mission and team members.

i)  Must have demonstrated financial skills for administering a team budget for meals etc, and be prepared to provide an account of all monies expensed, together with receipts.

j)  Team Manager Applicants for 2016, other than the Masters Team (if competing), will be required to hold a current “Volunteer Suitability Card” or similar police clearance for working with children under the age of 18 years of age. [NOTE: Any person appointed by Inline Hockey Australia to a role in which that person is likely to have individual and unsupervised contact with players less than 18 years of age must show proof of Suitability Card or similar police clearance. Obtained within your State.]

k)  Some first aid skill, but in particular ability to quickly source appropriate medical support as required for those players in your care while away from the competition venue.

NOTE: Must make yourself available to meet with the team immediately after selection announcements at the end of Nationals and take down all their contact details before the selected players depart for home.

NOTE: The NEC reserves the right to combine Manager roles for 2016 International Team season. Managers may be asked to manage more than one team.

2. Personal attributes:

a)  Clear and rational thought path and an ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; and in particular with your nominated age division.

b)  Ability to supervise players and administer discipline as appropriate within Skate Australia and Inline Hockey Australia’s Policies and Guidelines.

c)  Ability to work as part of a team, and when necessary, independently without supervision.

d)  Ability to be flexible when relating to different personalities and the different needs of individuals and organisations.

e)  Skills in the area of facilitation and negotiation.

f)  Problem solving & conflict resolution.

g)  Being objective, consistent and compassionate.

3. Additional criteria to be considered prior to submitting application:

a)  Must be committed to contact team members on a regular basis to ensure players are provided with information in relation to costs, travel, accommodation, payments etc.

b)  All Championship - must be committed to make yourself available for teleconference meetings called by the Chef de Mission

c)  Must be prepared to travel with team members

d)  Must be prepared to stay in team accommodation and may not share accommodation with children/spouse/family/friends.

e)  Must provide a full written report within 30 days of completion to the appointed Chef de Mission. Managers that have outstanding team reports from previous tournaments will not be considered.

f)  All successful applicants will be required to sign a Team Manager Agreement and abide by Skate Australia and Inline Hockey Australia’s procedures and protocols.

5. Assessment after the tournament:

Team Managers will be assessed at the conclusion of the 2016 event(s) on the following performance measures:

·  Established and maintained an efficient communication network between the Coach, team members, the Chef de Mission and where required the National Office.

·  Provision of written report within the required timeframe.

·  Management and behaviour of team members while on tour.
