RECITAL PICTURES:

Recital pictures will be taken Monday, April 16, Tuesday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 18 at the Zumbrota Dance Studio. No regular classes will be held that week. PLEASE CHECK THE SCHEDULE CAREFULLY FOR YOUR CHILD’S PICTURE DATE!

Students should wear their required recital tights with their recital costume and appropriate dance shoes (pink leather ballet slippers for all preschool and ballet classes, black tap shoes for tap and black leather ballet slippers or jazz shoes for Irish and hip hop, tan jazz shoes for jazz classes 1 hour in length and all costume accessories, such as hair pieces, hats, gloves etc. Please tuck the strings of ballet shoes inside the shoes and clean shoes with a damp cloth and a little soap. No underwear should be worn underneath the tights because they are visible under the costume. There will be a dressing area for costume changes.

HAIR STYLE FOR RECITAL/PICTURES: All preschool and ballet classes should wear their hair in a bun if their hair is long. The hair accessories should be worn on the dancer’s right side of the bun. All jazz classes – hair in a pony if long or front pulled back if short. All ballet, prepointe, and pointe classes – hair in a bun. For those in lyrical or hip hop please check with your instructor.

RECITAL TIGHTS: Please note that the required tight color is listed on the schedule. Most costumes included tights, if your costume included tights but you did not receive them please contact Robyn. If your costume did not include tights and you are in need of a pair of tight please purchase them this week. Footed tights are $4, stir up and convertible tights are $5.

RECITAL T-SHIRTS: The design for the 2017 recital t-shirt and sweatshirt is posted on the waiting room bulletin board. Order sheets are also posted in the waiting room. Please add your name/size to the list if you are ordering a shirt. T-shirts will be $10; Hooded Sweatshirts will be $25 and crewneck sweatshirts will be $22 (sizes 2XL and larger please add $3). T-shirts are available in Child small to Adult 2XL and Hooded Sweatshirts in sizes Child Small to Adult 2XL. Your name can be embroidered on the hood of the sweatshirt for an extra $5. Sweatshirts must be paid for when they are ordered. T-shirts may be paid for when picked up. ORDERS WILL ONLY BE TAKEN UNTIL WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18and no extra shirts will be ordered. Shirts will be available to be picked up during dress rehearsals.

RECITAL DATES: The 2018 spring show “Around the Town” will be held May 19 and 20at the Zumbrota High School. Rehearsals will be held May 14, 16, 17and 18also at the High School. REGULAR CLASSES WILL NOT BE HELD DURING THE WEEK OF DRESS REHEARSALS.

RECITAL TICKETS: Tickets for “Around the Town” will go on sale during the week of May 7at the Zumbrota Dance Studio. All tickets are $6 and all seating is reserved. With the exception of tickets for graduating senior parents, NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD IN ADVANCE AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN. You will be allowed to purchase 10 tickets per time through the line. In order to be fair to those who have a student in only one show, tickets for each show will be sold beginning on the date stated. You may purchase tickets to more than one show but you will need to purchase them on the stated date or after that date.

Tickets will go on sale at 6:00 p.m. at the Zumbrota Dance Studio as follows:

  • Tickets for the Saturday, May 19th 6:00 pm show will go on sale on Monday, May 7th at 6:00 p.m
  • Tickets for the Sunday, May 20th 1:00 pm show will go on sale on Tuesday, May 8th at 6:00 p.m.
  • Tickets for the Sunday, May 20th 4:30 pm show will go on sale on Thursday, May 10th at 6:00 p.m.
  • Any tickets left after the initial sales will also be available during dress rehearsals

The Sunday evening show will be the “Graduating Senior Show” – this is when the Graduating Seniors will be recognized. Please remember that those selling tickets are volunteers and do not get their tickets until the end of the day.

RECITAL VIDEOS: Video Scope Productions of St. Paul, MN will once again be professionally videotaping our show. The DVD order forms will be sent home with your student the week of April 30th. You will have the opportunity to purchase the show in the Blu-ray disc format as well. Many younger students will watch the video numerous times and it makes a great keepsake. Purchasing a video also allows you to enjoy the show and watch your dancer without distractions. I would highly recommend purchasing a DVD!

DRESS REHEARSALS: Dress rehearsals will be held at the Zumbrota/Mazeppa High School Auditorium during the week of May 15. We will need to adjust the practice schedule this year due to a choir concert on May 15so Tuesday 1/2 hours classes will be practicing on Wednesday.

Students in only one show will attend only one dress rehearsal. Students in the hour-long classes (with the exception of the tumbling class and dance team class) will be in all 3 shows and will be scheduled to attend all 3 rehearsals. Monday half hour classes will practice on Monday, May 15and perform in the May 19, Saturday 6:00 p.m. show; Tuesday half hour classes will practice on Wednesday, May 16and perform in the May 20, Sunday 1:00 p.m. show; and Thursday half hour classes, tumbling and dance team class will practice on Thursday, May 17and perform in the Sunday 4:30 p.m. show. Friday, May 18 will practice time for senior solos and advanced classes if needed. An exact schedule will be sent home during the week of April 30.

SUMMER CLASS SCHEDULE: The Summer Class schedule is now available and are in the waiting room or from your dancer’s instructor. NEW for summer this year will be Creative Movement for 3 to 5 year olds and Beginning ballet basics for 6 to 8 year olds. These classes are open to returning dancers as well as new dancers. Students in Pointe classes will be required to take Ballet IV/V classes if they are planning on continuing in pointe next year. Students in Ballet III (prepointe) are also recommended to take summer classes if they are working toward the pointe level. Competition Tech classes will be required for students who are planning on continuing in the ZDS performance teams and for those who are considering ZDS performance team next year. Some performance teams will begin learning their choreographing during the summer months so if you are considering joining for the 2018-19 season please contact Robyn.

LOST AND FOUND: Please check the lost and found. The box by the phone is overflowing and there are many dance shoes in the box on the bench that have been found. All items left at the dance studio at the end of the year will be donated.
