RESPONSIBLE TO RN/Deputy Manager
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To work within legal framework and the organisational policies & procedures
- To promote the organisations Aims & Objectives and Philosophy of care
- Support the needs of the individual by delivering person centred care which is evidenced & researched based, upholding resident’s rights and actively endorsing core values.
- To work within agreed competencies under the supervision of the RN in charge
CARE AND SUPPORT
- Assist in the admission of new residents into the Home.
- Attend bi-monthly care review meetings of named residents( FO)
- Contribute to written risk assessments of namedresidents, formulating care plans and evaluating them as required to reflect the preferences of the resident and/ or relatives
- Undertake designated clinical tasks under the direction of the RN in charge once core competencies have been attained
- Promote independence of the residents through encouragement of active participation in all activities of daily living, according to their needs
- Ensure all opportunities for individuals to be engaged in meaningful activities are maximised
- Assist the activity coordinator with the provision of meaningful activities as
per social care plan.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure safeguarding of vulnerable adults from abuse. Report suspected or disclosed abuse to Senior Manager
- Undertake personal care as evidenced in residents care plan
- Serve meals (FO) and assist residents to eat and drink when necessary. Inform kitchen staff of any variations to dietary requirements
- Assist with the laundering of bed linen and personal clothing
- Ensure nursing equipment is kept in a clean condition
WORKING WITHIN THE TEAM
- Report and record changes in residents condition to RN in charge
- Pass on relevant information at handovers
- Attend and take an active part in staff meetings
- Maintain effective communication and rapport with colleagues, relatives, visitors and members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Support new staff with their induction and refer any issues to supervisor
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Attend mandatory training as per training policy
- Complete Induction standards within the induction period
- Work towards NVQ level 2 in health & social care if not already attained
- Actively seek mandatory supervision at least 6 times a year
- Develop personal skills and update your knowledge to underpin the job requirementsidentified within your learning plan and at supervision/ appraisals
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Be aware of the legal responsibilities placed on all employees by the Health and Safety at Work Act which will be addressed through training, supervision and policy.
- Work within the organisations policies and procedures to minimise the risks to the health, safety and security of self and others
- Report immediately any accidents, incidents or complaints to the Nurse in Charge
- Ensure the Home is a safe place for residents, visitors and staff by contributing to the environmental risk assessments and reporting any hazards or faulty equipment to the Nurse in Charge
To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required within the framework of the post.
