February 26, 2015 - West MeetsEast Ice Breaker

VMC students join Mountainview and Mile End High Schools and took part in the 3 annual Community Building Hockey Game. This encounter is part of the Spiritual Care community Involvement project C.a.r.i.n.g. The gameallowed students to break the ice and get to know each other while understanding the importance of team work and building bridges between communities. Mountainview High and VMC Spiritual Community Animator Rocco Speranza, Phys. Ed teacher Mr Cavallaro,Mr Trimboli, have been encouraging their students to be healthy and active via ice hockey and skating for many years.

February 4, 2015 – Courage Day

VMC received a visit from basketball great Pascal Fleury and the CGG on what is known as Courage Day. Before the game students heard motivational presentations from Fleury and Cpl Santos. This encounter is part of the Spiritual Care community Involvement project C.a.r.i.n.g.

March 16, 2015 – Community Building Volleyball Game

VMC students visit Mountainview High School, in cote St Luc, and took part in the 1 annual Community Building Volleyball Game. This encounter is part of the Spiritual Care community Involvement project C.a.r.i.n.g.

March 17, 2015 – Spring Retreat

VMC students take part in Spring Retreat (facilitated and led by VMC SCA Mr Speranza) and mentor cycle three students from Edward Murphy School . These retreats are designed to aid elementary school students with their transition into high school.

March 18, 2015 – Steven Atme

Twenty one year old Steven Atme presented his fascinating life story to VMC Youth, The presentations aimed to encourage students to follow their dreams, give their 100 percent no matter what they do and to provide information students about Autism. Steven was joined SCA Mr Speranza who encouraged the students keep on being positive change and reminded students that when high school life or life in general gets challenging they are not alone , they should seek out support. Steven also performed three of his original compositions for students. Very inspiring day.
