Secretary of Philippine Department of Trade and Industry
visits STIHL in Waiblingen

The Honorable Gregory Domingo, Secretary of the PhilippineDepartment of Trade and Industry, accompanied by Undersecretary Ponciano Manalo and a delegation, visited STIHL’s corporate headquarters on June5, 2014.The guests were welcomed by Eva Mayr-Stihl, deputy chairwoman of the STIHL advisory board, Dr. Rüdiger Stihl, member of the STIHL advisory board, Karl Angler, executive board member finance, controlling, informationsystemsand service, Dr. Michael Prochaska, executive board member human resources and law as well as Dr. Stefan Caspari, Head of corporate communications.

In her welcoming address, Eva Mayr-Stihl stressed the company’s ties with the Philippines. “We have been represented in the Philippines since the mid-seventies where our products are currently sold by more than 160 authorized servicing dealers.”

The Philippine Officials saw the assembly line and plastics production in the STIHL Plant 2, Waiblingen-Neustadt. Secretary Domingo expressed admiration for German manufacturing proficiency and said “that the Philippines has a lot to learn from this.” He expressed deep gratitude for the hospitality of STIHL and said that he would convey to President Benigno Aquino his experience in Waiblingen.Aside from STIHL the officials also met, during their 3-day visit to Germany, with various manufacturers of construction materials, industrial lubricants, dental equipment, and software developers.

In January 2014, employees of STIHL, ANDREAS STIHL & Co. KG and the EVA MAYR-STIHL FOUNDATIONdonated some 60,000 eurosto the SOS Children’s Village Iloilo in the Philippines to alleviate the suffering of the childrenin the aftermath of atyphoon. The STIHL importer DMI (Deutsche Motorgeräte Inc.) had supported several aid organizations in the Philippinesand donated STIHL chain saws and power tools for clearing up operations in the disaster area.

STIHL is Germany’s most attractive employer in the consumer durables sector.This was confirmed in the “Germany’s Best Employer” survey performed by the Focus news magazine.STIHL came 37th in the overall ranking and was ranked number two in the engineering industry.
