Professional Silk Painting
This is an intense class aiming the students who would like to learn all the techniques in a short time or they come out of the state or country and would like to obtain an intense knowledge in a short time.
In this seminar, you will learn all the techniques of silk painting from the very beginning up to very complex techniques of dyes, paints, gutta resist, salt, alcohol, batik, stenciling, stamping, screening, and much more. We will also discuss all the aspects of marketing, and answer your questions relating to silk paintings. After two days, you will have enough knowledge to start your own business of silk painting, teach it, or just enjoy painting and embellishing your life.

This class is composed of 4 sessions:
In the first two sessions the introduction to silk painting will be taught where the students will learn all about silk, dyes and paints, resist and gutta, steaming and setting the colors and will practice their new knowledge on silk and by the end of the session every one will learn the secrets of capturing the beauty and luminosity of colors on natural white silk. There will be enough time to finish two beautiful scarves.
In the second two sessions more techniques will be taught to an advance level. You may bring your designs, Rosemary will guide you how to reach your goal.
These sessions are held in day time but if requested, the classes can also be held in the evenings from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m.
You may take one or more classes.

CONTEMPORARY FIBER ARTS / WORKSHOPS
Batik - Tie–dye & Shibori
The first day you will work with wax batik on silk that will allow you to create a wide range of colors, textures and special effects not really possible in other ways. In this class, you will learn ways of applying different waxes, traditional stamps, dyeing and removing the wax afterwards.
On the second day you will learn different techniques of tie-dyeing which you will be able to create many great and beautiful gifts.

10:30 am to 4:00 pm, $250 / Dévore, Burn-out Velvet and Discharge
Have you been admiring those wonderful cut velvet scarves and fabrics? (Cut velvet is also called burn-out velvet or dévore in French). This workshop will teach you how to design and create your own cut velvet. Students will also learn to discharge colors, over dye, and to emboss 3-dimentional designs on velvet.

Gift Creations
You can find many ready made blank or pre-designed articles excellent for gifts. Come alone or with your family and friends, paint on ties, hats, bags, jewelry and much more.
Open all Day long, The fee includes guidance, paints and some tools. You only pay for the item you want to decorate. Silk or fabric yardage dying is not included in this class.

Instructors
RoseMary Cohen, Ph.D.
Dr. RoseMary Cohen is the successful owner of Atelier de Paris, a textile arts supply manufacturer and importer. Rosemary has been a professional artist and well known for her work and knowledge in the field for over 30 years. Her works have been exhibited in Asia, Europe and America and is in many private collections. With her long years of experience, she has become a leading consultant in color anddye applications on surface design techniques for textiles.
Rosemary has taught in many art organizations around the country and in City Colleges. She has trained many employees of diverse factories in the U.S. as well as abroad. / In addition to her art and teaching, she has designed textiles for diverseTV & movie studios, famous Beverly Hills boutiques and clothing companies. Dr. Cohen has a doctorate degree in sociology from Sorbonne-Paris, as well as an art degree. She is the author of award winning books. Her pattern designs, magazine articles and instructional videos have been published in the U.S. as well as abroad. She has been featured in many TV programs such as NBC, HGTV and more.
Rosemary has taught many artists and professionals to discover and learn the art of silk painting. She especially enjoys helping her customers and students and sees them as successful manufacturers and renowned artists.
