ALLENHIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETIC TRAINERDISCPLINE POLICY

As anAllen Eagle Student Athletic Trainer, you are perceived at a higher level than the general student population. Therefore, we expect you to act accordingly in the classroom, out in public, as you would in the training room and on the field. This includes, but is not limited to, being a leader, being responsible for your actions, being accountable for the choices you make, being respectable to teachers and authority figures and so on. When these expectations are not abided by, there will be consequences served to correct the problem at hand.

You have 3 strikes per school year before you are removed from the sports medicine program (3 strikes and you are out). The policy states as follows:

First Strike: Discussion of problem, problem solving tactics to resolve the issues, warning of first strike, call and/or email to the parents.

Second Strike:Discussion of the problem, problem solving tactics to resolve the issues, warning of second strike, call and/or email to the parents to discuss problem and suspension from game/meet/match or sport you are involved in at that time, or determined by head athletic training staff if you are not involved in a sport.

Third Strike: Discussion of the problem, problem solving tactics to resolve the issues for the future, warning of third strike, call and/or email to parents to discuss problem and suspension from the sports medicine program for the rest of semester. Contact with your counselor to change your schedule. SAT will need to re-apply for the program for the next semester.

Grades: S.A.T.’s will follow the same eligibility policy as the athletes. If you fail any class at the 6 weeks reporting period, you will be ineligible to work any games until the next progress reports come out. You will be required to attend REQUIRED ATHLETIC TUTORIALS per Allen ISD Tutorial policy for low (70-72%) or failing grades (below 70%). You will still participate in all practices during this time. If you are passing at progress, you will be eligible to work game again. If you fail any classes in three different 6 weeks reporting periods, you will be dismissed from the sports medicine program all together. Your schedule will be changed and you will need to reapply to get back into the program.

Strikes include, but are not limited to the following:

Calls or emails from a teacher of a problem in class (i.e., disrespectful in class, not adhering to classroom policy, etc.)

Calls or emails from a principal of a problem

Calls or emails from an authority figure (i.e. SRO officer)

Calls, emails or complaints from a coach of a problem with that sport or athlete

Repeatedly being late to practices and or games

Failing classes at the 6 weeks reporting period

Unbecoming activity of an Allen Eagle

Head Athletic Trainer’s discretions

Head Athletic Trainers will contact parents via email or a phone call when such above instances should occur. It is in our best interests for ALL student athletic trainers to succeed in this program and ALL student athletic trainers will be treated fairly and consistently throughout. As always stated to the student athletic trainers, being in a high profile program such as the Allen Eagles, it is very important to be a leader and show respect to others, because there will always be someone watching. You will be picked out easier than a general student because you are a part of a great thing. Don’t let it slip away from you because you made a bad choice.
