·  The theatre operates a HARD HAT POLICY

Hard Hats must be worn by all persons working on the stage floor when work is being carried out in the grid.

Hard Hats are provided for your own protection, please use them!

·  A Man-Safe system is installed on the Theatre 2 catwalks, only personnel trained in the use of the system may work in the grid.

·  DAMAGE TO ANY EQUIPMENT

The full cost of equipment repairs necessitated by misuse, rough treatment, or incorrect operation, will be charged to the visiting company, so please ask a relevant member of staff if in doubt.

·  SCENERY AND PROPS

All scenery, props and drapery must comply with current theatrical fire policies and be constructed from fire proof materials, or made inherently fire proof. The Sherman reserves the right to perform checks on any scenery prior to performance.

SHERMAN CYMRU THEATRE 2 SEATING LAYOUT

Although Theatre 2 seating is flexible, rearranging it is a laborious process. The standard arrangement is thrust (seating banks on three sides of the octagon). If any other arrangement is called for, a charge is made to cover labour costs for altering and replacing the seating.

As an indicative example of cost:

To clear the space requires a 4 hour call for 4 members of staff charged at the hourly rate of £16 per hour.

To re build the seating blocks during the get out would require a 4 hour call for 4 members of staff charged at the hourly get TMA get out rate – work on rebuilding the seating blocks cannot commence until the set has been cleared from the stage

The seats themselves are arranged on the balcony and on stepped ‘seating units’.

DRINK AND DRUGS POLICY

Under the Health and Safety at Work Policy, it is the duty of Sherman Cymru to advise all users of the building (including employees, visiting artists and members of the general public where necessary) of the current “Drink and Drugs Policy”.

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol will not be sold or consumed anywhere in the building except in the areas designated by the liquor licences. These areas are:-

1. Foyer

2. Theatre 1

3. Theatre 2

This policy was compiled by the Management Team, after full consultation with staff of the Sherman Theatre Company, and was adopted by Sherman Cymru. It is designed to assist in the aim to provide and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and systems of work for staff, visitors and members of the public, whilst also supporting its commitment to a policy of providing theatre, and a positive experience, for young people.

All users of the theatre have a duty to follow the guidelines laid down. Staff in breach of the policy will be subject to disciplinary action.

Adopted Policy

The consumption of alcohol is not permitted in the following areas:

1 Backstage (All Areas, inc. Backstage Soft Drinks Bar)

2 Rehearsal Room & Dance Studio
