JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW RULES

GENERAL RULES

1. Please have entry forms completed in full. Incomplete forms will result in ineligibility to

compete. Entry forms must arrive no later than Monday before the Show. Any entry form received after Monday will be assessed a $5 late fee.

2. An entry fee of $10 per animal is due when mailing entry forms. Checks(not cash) should be

made payable to the Lenoir County Fair Association . Entry forms and entry fee should be mailed

to Lenoir County Fair, Livestock Show, Eve Honeycutt, 1791 Hwy. 11/55

Kinston, NC 28504. All money and entry forms need to be sent to this address.

3. Exhibitors may show a maximum of two animals in each species/category. If an exhibitor has

more than one animal in a class, the second animal must be shown by a junior approved by the

Director. Adults are not eligible.

4. All animals must meet North Carolina health requirements. Unhealthy animals will be excluded from competition at the discretion of the show director.

5. Due to the risk of foreign animal disease, any exhibitor, or any exhibitor whose family member or

visitor to the farm, has traveled internationally during the 14 days prior to animal check-in, should

voluntarily withdraw their animals from the show and not attend.

6. The Director reserves the right to exclude from competition any animal that is not properly halter

broken, cannot be controlled by the exhibitor, or obviously appears unhealthy.

7. Organizers of the Lenoir County Livestock Show are in no way liable for the transfer of disease

associated with the show.

8. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding, watering, and caring for their animals while the animals are

on the fairgrounds.

  1. All decisions by the judge are final.

10. The Show organizers reserve the right to add, cancel, or combine classes.

11. Questions not covered in these regulations will be ruled upon by the Show Committee.

12. Premiums: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st - 5th place in each class in each division.

Grand Champion - $50

Res. Champion - $25

Showmanship - 1-$30, 2-$20, 3- $15

13. NO SALES WILL BE HELD! All animals will be released.

ADDITIONAL HEIFER RULES

14. The show will begin at 9:00 a.m. All animals and exhibitors must arrive at the Lenoir County Fairgrounds between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.

15. Showmanship will be a beef class (heifers and steers) and divided into three categories:

Junior (9-11), Intermediate (12-14), and Senior (15-18). Showmanship will begin at 9:00 a.m.

16. The show is open to exhibitors ages 9 to 18 as of January 1.

17. Exhibitors need not own the animals, however, NC State Fair rules apply regarding training

of heifers.

18. The classes will be determined by age. All heifers should be of the correct age to be eligible to show at the State Fair in that same year.

ADDITIONAL LAMB RULES

24. The Show will begin at 2:00 p.m. All animals and exhibitors must arrive at the Lenoir County Fairgrounds between 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. Weigh in will be from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Weigh in will not begin until ½ hour after the conclusion of the heifer show, in the event the heifer show runs late.

25. Showmanship will be divided into three categories: Novice (4-8), Junior (9-13), and Senior

(14-18).

26. The show is open to exhibitors ages 4 to 18 as of January 1.

27. Exhibitors must own lambs a minimum of 45 days prior to the show.

28. Lambs must be wethers or ewes. No rams.

29. Lambs must be under one year of age (first set of permanent teeth not present) to be eligible to

show. Classes will be determined by weight.

30. All lambs must be ear tagged before arriving at the show.

31. Animals must be removed immediately following the show.

ADDITIONAL KID RULES

32. The show will be on Friday. All animals and exhibitors MUST arrive at the Lenoir County Fairgrounds for weigh in between 3:30 and 5 p.m..

33. Showmanship will be divided into three categories: Novice (4-8), Junior (9-13), and Senior

(14-18).

34. The show is open to exhibitors ages 4 to 18 as of January 1.

35. Exhibitors need not own the animals, however, kids must be in the exhibitors possession a

minimum of 45 days prior to the show.

36. Kids must be wethers or does. No bucks.

37. Kids must be under one year of age (first set of permanent teeth not present) and weigh at least

thirty (30) pounds to be eligible to show. Classes will be determined by weight.

38. All kids must be ear tagged before arriving at the show.

CONSENT, RELEASE, AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY

LENOIR COUNTY FAIR LIVESTOCK SHOWS

(To be signed by each participant)

I am the parent/guardian of the minor child named below (“the participant”) and am fully competent to sign this agreement. I understand that the Participant's request to participate in the Lenoir County Fair Livestock Shows has been approved. I understand that the activity involves various physical activities, including, but not limited to, contact with animals, and that there is a risk of injury associated with such activities. I understand the nature of the activity and my child's participation therein: I have explained these things to the Participant and his/her participation is both willing and voluntary. The Participant is in good health, and deemed able to participate in the activity. In addition, the Participant has adequate health insurance necessary to provide for and pay any medical costs that may arise as a result of injury to the Participant.

In consideration of the Participant's being permitted to take part in the Lenoir County Fair Livestock Shows, the Participant and I assume all risks of such participation, such risks including but no t limited to, (a) accidents and/or collisions with fixed or moving objects, animals, or persons; (b) hazards caused by equipment failure; and © hazards caused by inadequate safety equipment. I further agree that neither NCSU nor its employees, officers, trustees, or agents shall be liable for any claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or in any way connected with the Participant's participation in the activity, specifically including, but not limited to liabilities, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action relating to bodily injury (including death) and property damage suffered by the Participant. Therefore, on behalf of the Participant, the parents/guardians of the Participant, and the heirs and assigns of all the foregoing, I do hereby forever release and discharge NCSU, as well as its trustees, officers, employees, and agents from all such liabilities, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action.

With the activities having been explained to me, and all of my questions answered to my complete satisfaction, I consent to the Participant's participation in the Lenoir County Fair Livestock Shows and accept the facilities, premises, supervision, and equipment use in connection therewith; fully aware of the activities and risks that may be involved. I execute this consideration fully intending for myself, for the participant, and for the Participant's family, estate, heirs, administrators, personal representatives, or assigns to be bound by the same.
