A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE THAT THE SCHOOL DAY MISSED ON JANUARY 19, 2000, BY THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS OF GETTYS MIDDLE SCHOOL IN THE PICKENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT DURING SCHOOL YEAR 19992000 WHEN THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED DUE TO A BROKEN WATER MAIN IS EXEMPTED FROM THE MAKEUP REQUIREMENT OF THE DEFINED MINIMUM PLAN THAT FULL SCHOOL DAYS MISSED DUE TO EXTREME WEATHER OR OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES BE MADE UP, AND TO PERMIT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PICKENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CHOOSE NOT TO BE EXEMPTED AS PROVIDED ABOVE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
School day forgiven
SECTION 1. The school day missed on January 19, 2000, by the students and teachers of Gettys Middle School in the Pickens County School District during school year 19992000 when the school was closed due to a broken water main is exempted from the makeup requirement of the defined minimum plan that full school days missed due to extreme weather or other circumstances be made up.
Board may decline
SECTION 2. The Board of Trustees of the Pickens County School District may choose not to be exempted from the makeup requirement for the students and teachers of Gettys Middle School provided in Section 1 upon an affirmative vote of the board.
Time effective
SECTION 3. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 26th day of April, 2000.
Became law without the signature of the Governor -- 5/3/00.
