(10 & Under) Tournament Rules
All games will be played in accordance with the Official ASA Softball Rules for 2004 (straight ASA rules and regulations), with the following exceptions. The tournament will be ASA sanctioned, and ASA umpires from the Galveston County Umpires Association will be used.
#1 Home team will be decided by a coin toss before the game. The coin toss will be at home plate with the umpires and managers.
#2 Home team will provide the official scorekeeper for the game (please use the scorebooks we provide).
#3 Line-ups should be submitted to the scorekeeper as soon as home team is decided.
#4 Game time is forfeit time.
#5 Games will be 75 minutes or 7 innings.
#6 International tie breaker will be used in case of a tie.
#7 No infield warm-ups are permitted.
#8 Dugouts MUST be clean when vacated by each team. Please allow sufficient time for teams exiting the dugout to gather their equipment and pick-up trash. However, upon completion of a game, teams should vacate their dugout as soon as possible.
#9 The run rule is fifteen (15) after three (3) innings, and ten (10) after five (5) innings.
#10 Runners cannot steal home plate.
#11 NO WALKS! After ball four (4) the coach pitcher comes out to pitch. The number of pitches will be equal to the number of strikes the batter has left. Every pitch by the coach is considered a strike. No bunting or stealing on coach pitch.
#12 EVERY pitch by the coach pitcher will be considered a strike.
#13 No batter will be called out on a fouled 3’rd strike.
#14 No bunting or stealing will be allowed on coach pitch.
#15 The defensive player/pitcher MUST remain behind and to the side of the coach pitcher until the ball has been hit.
#16 ALL coaches MUST pitch from the rubber!
#17 Infield fly rule will be in effect.
#18 Time will be called immediately when a player is hurt and bases will be awarded at the umpires discretion.
#19 Third strike rule is NOT in effect.
#20 A team may score a maximum of 6 runs per inning.
#21 Pick-Up Players: 2 Pick-Up Players will be allowed per team. Pick-Up Players will ONLY be allowed from the 8 & Under age group. Pick-Up Players will NOT be allowed to play in the pitcher or catcher positions. Pick-Up Players MUST bat at the bottom of the line-up.
#22 Stealing is ONLY allowed up to 3’rd base.
#23 Freshmen teams MUST begin with at least 9 players (10 players normally), but in case of injury may finish the game with only 8 to prevent a forfeit.
#24 Every team bats the roster and plays 10 players out in the field (Rule #23 just refers to teams that have exactly 9 players ONLY).
#25 All players will have a turn at bat prior to any player having a second turn at bat during a game. If an injury to the batter or base runner occurs, the last girl to make an out will run for the injured player.
#26 Teams will NOT play with designated hitters.
