Upcoming Events
Putt-Putt Golf Tournament (Thor Romero) – Thor and Doug Gasseling gave a final update to the team regarding the Putt-Putt Golf Tournament. Both felt the event went very well. Thor noted that there were 33 that played putt-putt golf and around 48 that came to the event. Doug confirmed that they served around 48 individuals.
On a side note Thor was very happy with the how the community responded to our participants as they played putt-putt. He felt that it was a very good example of inclusion into the community. He was also pleased that several staff members brought family members to the event. He noted that these are two key proponents that he is striving for with these MCE events, to create a family community environment. The group was in agreement.
Festival of Trees Theme (Thor Romero) – Shannon gave the team an update on the upcoming Festival of Trees event. Below are some of the key comments from that update.
· Review and discussion of the Silent Action List
o Several team members volunteered to talk to some of the names on the list
· Group discussion on crafts table for children and guests
o The team reviewed several Pinterest suggestions that Laura had
o The team discussed possible cookie decorating
o The team felt that since the theme was “Snowflakes” we should look at crafts long those lines
o Christie Gasseling suggested a pipe cleaner and beads snowflake project she had seen before
§ The team liked this idea: simple and easy to do
· Participants can help
§ Doug Gasseling will bring example to Shannon when he comes to the MCE board meeting next week.
· Shannon reminded everyone that Family night is Friday, November 21st and the Gala and Silent Auction is Saturday, November 22nd.
· Thor noted that he wants to stress and work hard making sure that the staff and participant feel that they are part of the Family Night festivities
Shannon ended the discussion thanking everyone for their help and reminding everyone to keep her updated on any fundraising information via email or telephone.
Yard Warriors (Thor Romero) – Thor gave the team a brief update on the upcoming September Yard Warriors Judging dates. Per the group’s initial discussions it looks like the last week of September or first full week of October will work best. He will send an email out to everyone to finalize.
Marketing Flyer for MCE Auxiliary Group (Thor Romero) – Thor gave the group a quick update on the progress of the MCE Auxiliary Group Flyer. He noted that he has not been able to work on a draft, but he and Shannon have and discussed the design based on the notes and comments given to him by the MCE Auxiliary Team. He will continue to keep the group updated on the progress of the flyer.
Possible Move Date for October MCE Auxiliary Meeting (Thor Romero) – Thor discussed with the team that due to the MCE Annual Business Board Meeting Scheduled for Wednesday, October 22nd he asked if it would be possible to move the scheduled Tuesday, October 21st auxiliary meeting to either Tuesday, October 14th or Tuesday, October 28th. The group was fine with rescheduling and moved the date to the October 28th option.
Upcoming Planning Events (Thor Romero) – Thor and the group briefly discussed upcoming Fall and Winter events in general. Included in the discussion were:
· Christmas Parade: Usually the Saturday after Thanksgiving
· The Annual MCE Christmas Party: Thursday, December 11,2014 @ Little America
Next meeting will be Tuesday, October 28, 2014 @ 5:30 pm.
