ANNUAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

RULES

1.This tournament will be a co-ed RECREATIONAL tournament. Each team will have at least three members of the opposite sex listed on the roster and two of these three participating in each inning. If the majority of the team are men, then three women on the roster and two playing each inning and vice versa.

2.Children must be 16 years of age and over and must have their parent’s permission if under 18.

3.Each player must sign a waiver before they can participate in game play and this waiver turned in with the roster.

4.The tournament will consist of double elimination play on Saturday. The top teams will compete for 1st , 2nd and 3rd place trophies to be awarded at the end of play on Saturday. A trophy will be also be awarded for the consolation bracket.

5.One homerun per inning is permitted. Each homerun after the first during the same inning is a single. Each player on base will advance one base.

6.In-field fly rule will apply.

7.3 ball 2 – strike rule.

8.12 run slaughter rule after 5 innings and/or each game will consist of 60 minutes of play. Each game not to exceed 1 hour 15 minutes (to finish an inning).

9.1 courtesy runner allowed per inning. Last person to make an out will be the designated substitute runner.

10.60 minute time limit per game. No time limit or slaughter rule for championship game.

11.Home team will be determined by a coin flip. Home team to keep official scorebook.

12.The limit of arc on pitches will be more than 6’ and less than 12’.

13.Teams may utilize one designated hitter in batting order(it has been suggested teams be able to bat 12 people rather than a designated hitter). Let me know your thoughts on this.

14.All judgement calls by umpires will be final. The tournament director will decide any protest of rules.

15.Two agencies may combine to form one team if needed to have a team participate and/or pick up players if short of 10 players. Teams should have at least 5 people (ID shown) from their agency on their roster. There has been some discussion about teams “stacking” their players. Pleaseremember, this is recreational play to raise funds for Special Olympics. 
