· Requirement to assist reminded at race briefing
· PFD to be checked for serviceability
· Conditions to be assessed on race day
3 / Hypothermia / · All paddlers required to wear appropriate clothing
· Shelter, dry clothing and warm drinks available / · Clothing to be checked at race briefing
· Access to shelter to be confirmed on race day
4 / Collision / · All paddlers to keep to the right
· All turns anti clockwise
· All paddlers advised to avoid other river traffic
· Starts to take place when safe (ie other water traffic has passed) / · Start marshal and safety boat staff to remind paddlers and other water users
· Local Water Authority advised of race well in advance
· Other known clubs/water users advised of race
5 / Cuts and abrasions / · First aider and first aid kit at start
· Mobile phones available to summon emergency services with start marshals and safety boat staff / · Route to local hospital (minor injuries) to be recced
· Contact details local hospital (known by race organisers)
6 / Waterborne diseases / · Local advice on hazard
· No paddlers with open wounds allowed to race
