NO HOMEWORK?

NO EXCUSES!
The text we will read during the first unit of ELA is
“STEAL AWAY HOME: A Mystery about the Underground Railroad”
By. Lois Ruby
At the end of the unit students will be assessed with the following writing exercise:
Writing Focus: Opinion
In the book Steal Away Home, Dana states that her parents do not tell her what to do. Instead of dictating Dana's decisions, her parents provide her with options and advice that allow her to make her own choices. James' parents have a different parenting style. He is told explicitly what he may and may not do. In your opinion, which is the better parenting style? Be sure to support your answer with examples and/or quotations from the text.
ELA- Students will have an I.N.(Interactive Notebook) which included Comprehension questions and Vocabulary words for each chapter. I will collect notebooks periodically to grade. Please encourage your student to stay on top of these assignments.
Please discuss the chapters read with your student to be sure they understand the content.
