Meeting Minutes

FEBRUARY27, 2018

Lazy Days in Seffner, FL was the setting for the February meeting for the Caloosa Winnies of Southwest Florida. ActingPresident Richard Beck called the meeting to order at 9:00a.m. For those members who didn’t know, he explained that he and his wife Sharon were acting as president because of the sudden passing of John Weicherding who, along with his wife Jean, had been elected president last December.

Patti Doty led the group with the Invocation, and Acting President Sharon Beck led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Welcome of Members/Guests: Acting President Beck welcomed everyone to the meeting, including the following new members and guests: Sherry Wilson, the Lalondes, the Brashaws, the Walkers, the Loiselles, the Fords, the Griffins, the Taylors and Jim Post and Diana McGee. He also welcomed our Eastern Area Reps Tammy and Stuart Smith.

Chapter Roll Call:Thirty-sevencoaches answered the roll call.An additional nine coaches are attending the rally. Secretary Wilkie informed the attendees that the club currently has 69 members.

Secretary’s Report: A motion was made by Nancy Miller to waive the reading of December’s minutes. The motion was seconded by Ted Fumia and approved by the membership. The Secretary read two notes from members. One was from Jean Weicherding thanking everyone for their love and support, and for the beautiful flowers. The second was from Joann Dalton thanking the members for their good wishes in her illness. The Secretary also read Jean Weicherding’s letter of resignation from the Presidency. A motion was made by Don Levine to accept the letter, and was seconded by Jorge Gil. The membership voted to accept the letter, with regret.

Treasurer’s Report: Filling in for Treasurer Carolyn Thomas, Ed Thomaspresented the treasurer’s report. The report stands subject to the annual audit. The annual auditfor 2017 was read by Acting President Beck – everything was found to be in order. It was given to the Secretary to be filed with past reports.

Old Business:

Thanks: Rich expressed his thanksto our Wagon Queen, Nancy Miller, and all the co-hosts and other volunteers, for the work they do in planning and setting up for each rally.

By-Laws Revisions: Rich has scheduled a Board Meeting at the April rally to discuss possible revisions.

March Cruise/FMCA Rally Travel Group/April Outing: NancyMiller said that information about this year’s cruise will be sent shortly. If members have questions about the FMCA rally, please see Rich Johnson. Forms for the April rally are available – see Nancy.

Other: No other old business was discussed.

New Business:

Officer Position Fulfillment:As Director, Ed Thomas asked 1st Vice Presidents Rich and Sharon Beck if they were willing to step up to the Presidency – they were. He asked 2nd Vice Presidents Karen and Charlie Autry if they were willing to step up to the 1st Vice Presidency – they were. President Rich Beck then appointed Jorge and Orte Gil to the 2nd Vice Presidency, and they accepted the appointment. Ed then gave them the oath of office.

Emergency Contacts Book: Rich asked that everyone make sure that their form is in his book. Please review the form and make any changes necessary.

Business Meeting Minutes – Approval Process: Rich proposed that meeting minutes be sent to Mike Dippel, our webmaster, for posting as a draft on our Members Only web page, pending approval by the membership. Discussion followed and it was agreed to by a unanimous show of hands.

2019 February Rally Discussion: Nancy outlined her tentative plans for a second reunion rally here at Lazy Days on February 18-22, 2019. After some discussion, Dave Wilkie made a motion that the Caloosa’s host this reunion rally, and this was seconded by Don Levine. The members voted unanimously to host the rally.

Other: Concerning the information on the Members Only page of our website, it was decided that an email will be sent to all current members asking what information they want on this page. Also, if you see a mistake or wish to add something to your page, call or email Mike Dippel.

Birthdays and Anniversaries/Sick Bay Report: President Beck read the list and we all congratulated our February members.

For the Good of the Chapter: Jerry Miller will be taking members’ pictures after the meeting to be put on the web site. Ted Fumia told us about a USPS service called Informed Daily Delivery Digest, where they will scan your mail so you can see if there is anything you need to have forwarded to you immediately.

Reminders: Nancy reminded us about the 50/50 raffle after dinner, our 4 pm Caloosa photo, and the “door guards” for our hors d’oeuvres party. Have fun!

Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made at 9:42 am by Don Levine, seconded by MitchLoiselle.
