I taught Developmental Reading 1300 and English 1300.
The focus of 1300 Reading is to build a college level vocabulary, learn how to do critical reading, while learning the value of annotating text. Students are introduced to various methods of literary argument and proper structure for writing papers at the academic level.
In the 1300 English class students are taught the three styles of Aristolean argumentative writing as well as how to use MLA format for in-text citation, and works cited pages. In this class students are required to do a research paper with primary sources and secondary sources. The final is administered by the English Department.
