Position title: / Corporate Services Director
Program/Team: / Executive Management Team

Reporting relationships: / Reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Responsible for supervising Finance Officer, Administration Coordinator, HR Advisor, Communications Manager, Strategic Partnerships Manager.
Probationary period: / 6 months / Last review of PD: / October 2017
Primary purpose of position: / The Corporate Services Director leads, directs and manages all aspects of the Finance, Administration, Strategic Partnerships, Communications, HR and IT functions and strategies within the organisation.Reporting to the CEO, this role forms a critical part of the Executive Management Team and is responsible for maturing the business model of BYS in keeping with its strategic direction.

  2. Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills and the demonstrated ability to formulate and implement proactive initiatives and systems to ensure achievement of organisational goals.
  3. Knowledge of legislation and contemporary financial management practices and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge todevelop and manage budgets and interpret and present financial reports to the CEO and Board.
  4. Demonstrated leadership and management skills with strong decision making and strategic thinking skills demonstrated through an ability to resolve critical and complex issues.
  5. Excellent communication skills with demonstrated capacity to build effective partnerships and negotiate matters of strategic importance to the organisation.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of the community based social services sector.
  7. Demonstrated success in project management and change management.

Qualifications, Checks and References
(Mandatory) /
  • Graduate/post graduate qualifications in Accountancy, Finance, Business Management/Administration or Human Resource Management or similar.
  • Current Queensland driver’s licence.
  • Working with Children Suitability Positive Notice or ability to obtain.
  • Three relevant referees.

Experience: /
  • A minimum of five years corporate and financial management.
  • Experience operating accounting software (MYOB) and Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in budget development, management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience managing diverse projects and teams.
  • Experience in strategy development and implementation.

KEY RESULT AREAS - Role and responsibilities
Governance /
  • Provide leadership and strategic advice to the CEO and Board to effectively meetbusiness needs, governance requirements and operational functions.
  • Participate as an Executive Team member in planning and managing strategic issues; annual budget cycle; managing and leading significant projects and operational matters; and contract management.
  • Manage the organisation’s corporate functions in accordance with agreed organisational strategy and ensure compliance with all legislative requirements and achievement of best practice.
  • Drive continual improvement and ensure that systems, policies procedures and practices relating to corporate services are developed, implemented and maintained in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Lead and implement BYS’s risk management strategy in consultation with CEO and Board.
  • Maintain a compliance schedule and ensure all due dates are met for financial, legal and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure systems,policies and procedures are maintained to ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategy, business functions, programs and services.
  • Provide assistance with tenders, grant submissions and other ad hoc requirements
  • Other tasks and duties as directed.

Finance /
  • Develop, implement and monitor BYS’s financial strategy to ensure ongoing sustainability and growth.
  • Manage the financial operations of the business and provide authoritative analysis and advice to the CEO and Board.
  • Ensure BYS financial systems are in line with current accounting practices and meet taxation requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and complete financial records in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards are created and maintained.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports to the CEO and Board.
  • Prepare, monitorand review budgets in conjunction with the CEO and management team.
  • In conjunction with the external Auditor plan and oversee the annual audit.
  • Ensure BYS has all the systems, controls, processes, policies and procedures required to operate effectively and remain financially viable.

Strategic Partnerships /
  • Ensure the development and implementation of BYS Strategic Partnerships strategy with clear income generation targets.
  • Oversee management of portfolio of corporate relationships including corporations, high net worth individuals, donors, etc.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external providers.

HR /
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Awards, National Employment Standards and IR legislation.
  • Maintain the organisation’s status as an employer of choice through strategic human resource management.
  • Ensure the performance of BYS is maximised through clear HR goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture aligned with the organisation’s vision, philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regular supervision meetings, team meetings and performance reviews.

Administration /
  • Ensure efficient and effective administration systems and processes are in place to support the organisation’s business requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate records are created and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
  • Ensure the acquisitation, administration and disposal of assets ismanaged in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

Information Technology /
  • Ensure the ICT strategy is implementedand adapted as requiredto meet changing organisational needs and mitigate risks.
  • Manage the ICT contract with the external provider and ensure best value for money.

People and Culture /
  • Create and lead an organisational culture of individual growth, coaching and development.
  • Drive a culture of collaboration and partnership aligned with the organisation’s values
