Enclosed is a press release for our upcoming event, the Virginia Beach Christmas Market, which will be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia on November 29 – December 1, 2013.

If your events calendar includes images, we have many high-quality images available for your use that we can easily furnish by e-mail or actual photo. Also, as seasoned veterans of the art, craft and antique show industry, we are available for any interviews or industry insight regarding arts, crafts and/or antiques in the Mid-Atlantic region.

On a side note, we recently held our Northern Virginia Christmas Market at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Va. and were pleasantly surprised at a large increase in attendance as well as brisk sales throughout the weekend. Linda Shell, the now retired founder of Events Management Group, said the shows have always benefited from a slow economy as the events are an inexpensive form of entertainment and the customers perceive more value when buying directly from the artists.

Also, the current economic climate will make this winter season especially difficult for the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and its users. Any mention you can make regarding the food drive will be greatly appreciated by all.

Christmas Craft Show Still Going Strong After 30 Years

It happens only once a year! The 32nd annual Virginia Beach Christmas Market returns to the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA, November 29-December 1, 2013. This show was once again voted into the “100 Best Classic and Contemporary Craft Shows in the United States” by Sunshine Artist Magazine, America's premier show and festival guide. The Christmas Market will feature 250 juried artisans from across the country offering fine arts, functional and decorative pottery, handcrafted jewelry, stained glass, woodcrafts, photography, toys, fiber arts and much more. From whimsical to country, contemporary to casual, it's the finest collection of affordable arts and crafts in the region, including thousands of creatively-made gifts, fresh holiday decorating ideas and one-of-a-kind Christmas collectibles.

New Exhibitors, Returning Favorites and the first Vintage Alley

·  New to this year's show – Vintage Alley, an exclusive showcase area with exhibitors who create functional or decorative works from vintage objects, or who sell up-cycled vintage finds or vintage Christmas décor. There will be treasures to be found from vintage linen gifts to shabby chic style painted furniture or jewelry, Plus, vintage Santas and re-purposed vintage wood gifts. Something for every taste and for every generation!

·  The 2nd Annual Craft Swap - Bring some, take some! Crafty customers can bring their unwanted craft supplies and swap out for what they are looking for. Each bag of supplies will allow them to scavenge for that same amount in exchange. All left over supplies will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

·  Steven McAlpin with Canes for Courage will be bringing hand carved canes that he will customize for customers, especially those who are vets of foreign wars, carving insignias and names and dates on site. A great gift for that older uncle or grandfather!

·  Enjoy having your "portrait" done by local caricature artist Bob Langston, who is quick with a pen and even quicker with his wit. He will entertain the little ones and draw Grandma with a big smile in under 10 minutes.

·  Linda Goldston and her husband Roland, from BBG Designs, make solid wood trunks, upholstered ottomans and beverage trays with popular colors and styles in many different designs including coastal designs.

·  Paige Ford with Resting Embers Glass will be bringing hand blown glass pendants, swizzle sticks and wine bottle stoppers in a beautiful array of colors with intricate designs.

·  Jordan Rosenfeld and Carol Shapiro of Teke Company have created a very hip new style in wool felted purses, cross body bags, and cases for that hard-to-shop for techie on your Christmas List.

·  Kim Stites with Give-Treat-Love creates hand baked dog treats for yummy gift giving for your animal loving friends and gives a portion of her products to local dog shelters.

·  Anita Preece from Sweet Aroma Gifts will be bringing handcrafted lavender sachets and flaxseed eye pillows that she creates from vintage fabrics – a great mother or sister gift! You can find her in Vintage Alley!

·  Elaina Murphy creates wax cylinder “hurricane” lamps by infusing dried flowers and botanicals in pretty patterns that are illuminated when a candle is lit inside. Very unique and must be seen to be appreciated!

·  Wildwood Soapworks joins us again after so much attention at last year's show, bringing their fresh batch of 100% organic lotion bars, soaps, facial products and lip balms.

·  Dean Kuhta - Within these magical forests and enchanted hills, you will discover artistic treasures such as fine art prints, note cards, custom name artwork, and more.

·  Mom & Pop’s Vermont Maple Syrup - The Gendron family has been making Vermont maple syrup since 1918. In addition to the syrup they have created maple drops, maple candy, maple cream, maple sugar and pancake mix.

·  Ronnie Wyatt with Pecan Jacks is coming back with her yummy pralines and caramel turtles ! Get them before they are gone!

·  Amy James and Rich Tucker of Unique Pewter are a great duo, creating diochrotic glass fish pendants and hand sculptued pewter hair barrettes. Rich has ventured back into the furniture building business and now has a line of shadow box tables that display family heirlooms or beach finds nicely. Grab one for your beach cottage – a nice accent!

Taste of the Holidays

Over 25 “Taste of the Holidays” specialty food vendors will offer gift-packaged gourmet fare such as almond pound cakes, holiday cookies, holiday seafood mixes, Amish breads and homemade jams and jellies. These goodies are ideal for creating gift baskets, loading up Santa’s stockings and gathering hard-to-find executive and hostess gifts.

Small Business Saturday

EMG is encouraging patrons to show their support and gratitude for these entrepreneurs by pledging to "shop small" on Saturday, Nov. 30th, the 3rd National Small Business Saturday. Small businesses are the lifeline of the American economy, they create jobs, boost the economy, preserve neighborhoods and a way of life. Inspired by generations before them, these artists represent what America is all about. They use their hands and skills to transform raw materials into something of value that can be admired and used for years to come.

The Red Cross will be conducting a blood drive Friday and Saturday with all donors receiving free admission

Food banks are experiencing a critical shortage of supplies as donations drop and demand for free and discounted food continues to soar. The Virginia Beach Christmas Market holds a major food drive each year benefiting the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia by offering 50 cents off admission to attendees donating cans of non-perishable food. Last year over 6,000 pounds of food was collected during the 3-day event.
