Hello Drugan Band Parents first and for mostHappy New Year and welcome back! We are off to a quick start in Band and a primary focus of the 3rd 9 weeks is devoted to learning a solo & ensemble pieces of music in class and performing it to the best of his/her ability for a performance exam towards the 3rd 9 Weeks test grade. Rehearsals in class and a few after school will be offered to prepare your child for this activity. Students in 4th and 6th periods have the option of also performing the same solo at the Solo and Ensemble Festival for their 3rd 9 Weeks test grades in class. In addition, Honors students are expected to participate in the SISD Solo and Ensemble Festival being held at Montwood High School on Saturday, February 6th. He/she will also receive credit towards their 3rd 9 weeks test grades for participating in the festival.

Parents please take the time to hear your child play their instrument and sign off on the weekly practice chart located on the front cover of the Essential elements book. The beginning band student should be practice a minimum of 40 to 50 minutes a day. As the school year progresses the interval of practice should increase 5 to 10 minutes every month.
