Unit Rates Project
What is this project?
You will be researching a variety of different items at different stores to calculate the unit price for the item. By doing this, you will be able to discover what the better buy is.
When is the project due?
This project is being assigned on Tuesday, November 24th and will be due on Friday, December 11th. If you turn the project in by Friday, December 4th, you will receive 10 points extra credit.
What do I need to do to receive the most points possible?
You must research the five items that are listed below. For these five items, you must compare prices between two different brands. You may actually go to the stores and write down the prices that you find or if you would prefer to only search ads, that is another option. Typically Kroger, CVS, Walgreens, Cub Foods, and Schnucks have their weekly advertisements on their websites. This would be an excellent tool.
The five items include: Soda/Pop (Purchased by the can), Toilet Paper (Double Rolls count as 2 rolls), Salad Dressing, 2 additional items of your choice.
How should my project look?
You need to turn in an 8.5x11 sheet of paper that is either typed or neatly written. (It may NOT be done on a sheet of notebook paper.) On this piece of paper, you should have all 5 items listed, the brands that you used, the price listed on the store tag (or in the advertisement), the unit size, the store in which you found the items, and the unit price. You are welcome to use pictures if you’d like, but they are certainly, not mandatory.
How much is this project worth?
This project is worth 50 points.
Can I see an example of what my final copy should look like?
On the back of this sheet of paper, I have included an example of what a final copy should look like.
