What We’re Learning
Reading- Comparing Fiction Texts… we will be reading two fiction texts by the same author and with the same characters (books in a series). As we read, we will discuss how the themes, settings, and plots are the same and/or different. Test 2 will be on Thursday!
English-Root Words… we will be learning about root words and their meanings, as we use root words as a clue to determine the meanings of unknown words with the same root.
Writing–Opinion:.. We are doing our writing performance assessment this week and writing an opinion piece. We will be stating our opinion and supporting it with reasons and examples from texts.
Math- We are practicing measuring to the nearest ¼ inch, creating a line plot using the data, and asking/answering questions interpreting the data. The Unit 5 Test is Friday, March 2nd. We will be reviewing in class Thursday.
Social Studies-This week we will be concluding the Native American Unit by completing an in class project with our classmates on a tribe of our choice. We will also begin learning about European Explorers, John Cabot and Henry Hudson. Students are expected to know why they were exploring for their country and their encounters once they got to the Americas. / Important Dates & Announcements

What is PBIS?

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) is a school wide approach to teaching behavioral expectations in the same manner as any core curriculum subject.

Research shows that students achieve at a higher level when they know school expectations and feel safe.

· There are two overall expectations for students. As part of our weekly lessons, students will be explicitly taught about the Rincon “R&R”, including how expectations play out in different school settings. Posters throughout the school will advertise and reinforce the Rincon “R&R”.

o Be Respectful

o Be Responsible

●Students will be acknowledged for showing their Bobcat R&R by receiving tickets that can be redeemed at the school store. Also, if students with 0 office referrals will participate in monthly acknowledgements as well.
