iPads Are Home, Now What?
Charging:Your student is receiving a charger with his/her iPad today. Your student is responsible to come to school everyday morning with a 100% charge on their iPad. You are to keep the charger at home throughout the year, but will be expected to return it at the end of the school year. The charger has been labeled in order to help you separate personal chargers from the school issued charger.
iPads: As stated above, iPads are to be brought to school everyday and be here when the morning bell rings. iPads will often be the only way for your student to complete assignments for class. If your student does not bring it, parents will be notified and given the opportunity to bring it in for their student. If the iPad is not here by the morning bell, students will receive a negative dojo point.
Ideas from 1:1 families to remember iPads in the morning:
- Put backpack next to electrical plug that is charging iPad.
- Put shoes for next day next to charging iPad.
- Sign on door asking, “Do you have your iPad and headphones?”
Class Dojo: Class Dojo is what the fifth grade uses to track and share behavior. The Class Dojo app has been downloaded onto your student’s iPad. Parents must help students set up their account on the school iPad this weekend. Since students are under 13, parental authorization must be given in the set up process. If you do not remember the student/parent account code, please contact your teacher this weekend in an email.
Downloading:Students are not to download any apps on their iPad without teacher permission. We are being intentional with selecting learning apps that will help us learn more about our world, organize our learning, and show our new knowledge.
Headphones:Students must bring headphones/earbuds to school everyday. This is a must so that we are not a distraction to other students while learning on the iPad. If you are unable to provide headphones, please contact your teacher this weekend in an email.
Optional: Your student may prefer writing with a stylus on the iPad. Also, a cleaning cloth and cleaner might be considered to keep our iPads clean, easy to see, and germ free.
