2) Job Purpose
To initiate, develop and contribute to corporate fundraising events, appeals and initiatives through developing new contacts and establishing relationships with key individuals and businesses in the local community.
To work as a member of the Fundraising team to ensure a strong positive public image is maintained and optimum income is achieved from all elements of fundraising.

To establish and maintain sustainable relationships to benefit Hospice fundraising and marketing initiatives.
6) Key Results
Fundraising
To develop, promote and deliver allocated fundraising initiatives in line with overall department targets.
To agree the detail of all events and appeals, including budgets and costings and set in place adequate controls to monitor progress.
To secure participation in or attendance at fundraising events, initiatives and appeals.
To participate in progress reports and meetings to update the Fundraising Manager.
To ensure that leads, enquiries and contacts in relation to fundraising are processed in a timely manner.
To be responsible for the administration needs of designated fundraising activities.
To identify and establish new sources of fundraising and develop ongoing relationships with existing donors to maximise fundraising income.
To work in partnership with third parties to generate and maximise income and PR opportunties.
To plan and confidently deliver talks and presentations to the local community, voluntary groups and businesses and represent the Hospice at functions and cheque collections when necessary.
To arrange appropriate Hospice attendance at external events when required.
To work with and support other members of the fundraising team to achieve team and individual targets.
To allocate tasks and provide direction for volunteers involved in fundraising events and activities.
To provide support and guidance to external groups involved in fundraising activities.
To operate within the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Hospice, reflecting both national legislation and industry best practice.
To ensure Raisers Edge records are kept up to date and that data is entered in line with procedure.
To identify and secure sponsorship for appropriate fundraising initiatives where possible.
To work creatively and innovatively maximising donor support across a range of fundraising activities.
Marketing & PR
To maintain good communication between all departments of the Hospice to promote and encourage involvement in fundraising and PR activities.
To undertake marketing and PR of fundraising initiatives, liaising with appropriate external agencies and departments..
To identify compelling and innovative PR stories that fit with the fundraising department’s campaigns and achieve maximum possible media coverage, liaising with communications department.
To ensure PR stories generated by third parties are accurate where possible.
To be the main point of contact when appropriate for recruited celebrities.
To liaise with communications department eg advertising, PR and printers regarding production and content of Hospice literature.
To contribute to the design and production of promotional literature for the Hospice in line with brand guidelines.
To ensure all fundraising content on the Hospice website is accurate and up to date.
Other
To produce a monthly activity report and appropriate updates to be submitted to the Fundraising Manager.
To participate in induction and orientation process for new members of staff.
To supervise students on placement.
To be proactive in identifying and addressing own personal education and development needs
To participate in the educational programmes offered by the hospice, internally and externally, raising awareness of developments in own specialty and in the wider fundraising discipline.
To participate in the hospice professional development and review process to promote personal and service developments.
To attend department meetings as necessary.
To participate in relevant hospice working groups as necessary.
To monitor innovative fundraising activities within the charitable and events sector drawing on ideas to implement within the Hospice.
To provide reception cover as required.
To provide cover for can counting process as required.
Corporate
To actively build and maintain successful relationships within the business community to secure support for the Hospice.
To visit the corporate community presenting appropriate information to Directors and staff.
To create and implement new fundraising events and initiatives targeting the business community.
To work as a member of the fundraising team ensuring a consistent level of service to all corporate partners.
To maintain and develop income from business community which is reviewed annually.
To ensure all interests from staff of businesses are directed to the appropriate member of the Hospice team.
To promote employee volunteering, liaising with the Volunteer Services Department to ensure positive experiences for corporate partners.
To promote other fundraising initiatives within the business community.
To work proactively with Hospices UK to service agreed national partnerships.
To maintain awareness of current business trends and local developments.
To actively promote Give As You Earn within the business community.

8) Assignment and Review of Work
The postholder is responsible to the Fundraising Manager for guidance and management, work review, objective setting and formal appraisal of performance.
Meets regularly with other team members/ attends staff meetings/ attends departmental development meetings.
Plans and prioritises own workload on a daily basis.
Written and verbal reports are presented on a regular basis.

Works as part of the Fundraising team planning and prioritising their own workload to meet their own and department objectives.
Is expected to know when to refer issues involving members of the public, patients or volunteers to another professional within the Hospice.
Makes quick decisions in pressurised situations e.g. events.
Anticipate and manage areas where problems or conflict might arise and address them properly.

Collaborate with the wider Hospice team regarding the needs of the fundraising department.
Promotes and maintains good relationships within the department and with all members of the wider team throughout the hospice.
Regularly attends department meetings.
Represent the Fundraising Department on Hospice working groups and committees.
Supporters
Build and maintain relationships with the local community and corporate sector.
Presentations to businesses and community groups.

Physical
The post is mainly carried out in the normal office environment requiring limited physical effort.

13 ) Knowledge, Training and Experience required to do the Job
Evidence of team working skills with ability to work using own initiative.

Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
Previous experience of working within a fundraising or sales environment is desirable.

Corporate and events fundraiser

Outline terms and conditions

Salary range / £21,656 to £28,067 per annum
Reporting to / Director of fundraising
Hours of work / Between 08.30 and 17.30 working 7.5 hours a day with an unpaid break for lunch. Monday to Friday. 37.5 hours per week.
Regular evening and weekend work, time off in lieu in line with Department policy.
Based at / 71 Carlton Place
