GENERAL INFORMATION

EQUINET, the European Network of Equality Bodies, brings together specialized equality bodies from European countries set up to promote equality and combat discrimination on the grounds covered by the EU Equal Treatment legislation (gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation) and beyond. The Equinet network and Secretariat are currently co-funded by an annual Action grant under the Progress programme of the European Union.

Equinet is opening an traineeship position (maximum 6 month-long), for the period September 2014 - February 2015, in order to assist the Equinet Secretariat, a small team of 6 staff members based in Brussels. The trainee will in particular assist the Administration and finance Officer with carrying out activities and tasks related to the general management of the office, the management of the EU grant co-funding Equinet for 2014 and the organisation of Equinet events.

This is a fulltime paid traineeship to be performed at the Equinet secretariat, located in Brussels, Belgium. Equinet offers the traineeship in the framework of a Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle under Belgian law with a financial monthly compensation of around € 930 net + meal vouchers + partial local transportation costs coverage.

This legal scheme aims to help recent graduates getting a first professional experience in a field related to the focus of their studies.

The traineeship is expected to start in the first week of September 2014.

TRAINEESHIP DESCRIPTION

Administration and Finance:

·  Assisting in the general management of the EC Action Grant co-funding Equinet in 2014

·  Collecting, sorting and processing financial evidence from Members to document the Action Grant requirements in compliance with EC financial regulations

·  Assisting with the update of the bookkeeping

·  Assisting with the reorganising of the administration and financial department (sorting, filing…)

·  Assisting with the development of procedures and management practices to improve the workflow in the department and the Secretariat

·  General support in the office when necessary (telephone and mailing, travel and meeting arrangements);

Communications:

·  Membership management and communication between the Equinet secretariat and Equinet members;

·  Assisting with the production, development and upload of relevant social media content, as well as website content via a Content Management System (SPIP);

·  Maintenance and development of Equinet lists of contacts and database;


Events Planning and Organisation:

·  Supporting the planning, organisation and delivery of the Equinet Gender training event in Warsaw, the Equinet Legal Training in Belgrade, the Equinet Annual General Meeting in Brussels and other possible events. This might entail travelling in Europe.

PROFILE SPECIFICATION

Essential skills and profile features

·  At the most one previous traineeship experience

·  Fluency in English and French (spoken and written language).

·  Experience and very good drafting skills in English in relation to office correspondence and preparing minutes/reports of meetings

·  Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with member organisations staff and external contacts

·  Excellent organisational and administration skills with an eye for details, and a sense of initiative

·  Personal commitment to non-discrimination, equal opportunities and human rights

·  Ability to work in a team and with professionals in an international / multicultural environment

·  Relevant education background (e.g. office management, event management, bookkeeping…)

Desirable / assets (useful additional experience/knowledge)

·  Knowledge of other European language(s)

·  Experience in membership management, EU grant management and or office administration (at volunteer or student job level)

Equinet traineeship offers:
