Year 8 Revision Checklist – Winter 2017
- Topic 1: Integers and decimals
-Know the value of a digit in a number
-Write numbers and decimals in order
-Read whole numbers and decimals on different number lines
-Multiply and divide whole numbers and decimals by 10 and 100
-Multiply a number by a multiple of 10 or 100
-Add and subtract positive and negative numbers
-Use mental methods to add and subtract whole numbers and decimals
-Use written methods to add and subtract whole numbers and decimals
- Topic 2: Probability
-Use words to describe different probabilities
-Use the scale 0 to 1 for placing probabilities
-Know the meaning of the words trial, outcome and event
-Use equally likely outcomes to find a theoretical probability
- Topic 3: Measures
-Measure lengths in centimetres and millimetres
-Change cm to mm/m/km and vice versa
-Calculate perimeters of simple shapes
-Find the area of simple shapes by counting squares
-Use a formula for finding the area of a rectangle
-Find the area and perimeter of shapes made from rectangles
-Know the names of different kinds of angle
-Classify angles by name when their size is known in degrees
-Estimate and measure angles up to 360° using a protractor
-Know facts about angles on a straight line and vertically opposite angles
-Know facts about angles at a point and angles in a triangle
-Calculate angles using the facts you know
- Chapter 4: Numbers
-Know what factors and multiples are and be able to find them
-Know about coordinates and plot points using them
-Know what is meant by the term prime numbers and be able to identify them, using divisibility tests where appropriate
-Find the HCF (Highest Common Factor) and LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) of two numbers
