  1. As a member of the Goulet Golf Club, did you take part in any of the organized tournaments in 2017?

YES31 (58.49%)

NO22 (41.51%)

If no, was there a reason why?

Away on the dates of tournaments

Not interested in some of them, and not available for the one tournament I would have liked to have gone into (flag).

Injured or too busy

Was away on those dates

I don't think I play well enough to enter a tournament. Bigger issue was I didn't know anyone to play wirh

Too busy had other plans on same date.

no time. not really interested

busy

Unfortunately I was out of town for all of them.

I am not interested in tournaments.

Just busy on the flag tournament date

The dates did not work with other commitments

I was away for both the Championship and Flag Tournament :( so sad

We tend to golf at other courses on the weekend.

The only one I noticed was the skins tournament which is above my abilities. I did take part in the 9 & Wine which as usual was a lot of fun. We also took part in the flag tournament.

Too busy now did all tournaments previous years

Didn't attend events for a variety of reasons but primarily due to weather and personal schedules.

Keep it simple! Don’t get too complicated!

Weekends are tough during the summer.

Bad weather on that day.

Too busy, or away on tournament dates.

  1. Are there any specific formats that would increase your likelihood of participation (e.g. Best Ball, Alternate Shot, Scramble, Shamble, Cha ChaCha, Lone Ranger, Skins, Foursomes, 2-day Eclectic).

Best ball

Best Ball; Texas Scramble

Best ball

The tournament formats were fine in 2017.

NA

Best Ball

No

Golf more for fun than for competitiveness so tournaments typically do not interest me.

Best ball. Scrambe or alternate shot

Best ball

Alternate shot

not really make as many as i can

No

Best Buall or Scramble

2 day eclectic has not been tried, it might gain some interest. Anything that would get more members out - but that is tough!

They all look interesting to try.

NO

Mixed team events

Any of the above formats would be great - I like the aspect of shared play for a score.

None

Am fine with whatever.

All of the above sound like fun

this yrs. format was fine

no

Not sure.

best ball, alternate shot

No just have to be around.

All of the above would be great

No

One or two of those sound good

2 person Best ball is a lot of fun

Best ball

Best ball Not sure what those others are - will google them they sound fun

Any of the above

Good with the formats

All formats are good and it's good to change them up periodically.

Probably not as we golf with other people at other courses on the weekends.

I like best ball

Tournaments are a lot of work if there isn't a tournament director. I rest my case.

2-day eclectic

I did enjoy the Pepsi tournaments we had years ago it was a two day eclectic

Two day tournaments any format would be great.

Scramble!

No

The 2-day tournaments would be great!

Stableford system; couples tournament scramble

2 day eclectic, alternate, cha chacha

Not really

Couples tournament that is formatted like the Golf Saskatchewan tournament

Scrambled

will play in any type of tournament

not really

Lone Ranger

  1. At the Flag Tournament, we introduced a Hole-In-One Prize which the Club paid an insurance fee of around $150.00 for. Would you like to see this again at the Flag Tournament and/or other tournaments?

Indifferent

At the Flag tournament.

na

Only if the cost does not become too prohibitive.

I think that one time in a year is enough. The cost of insurance outweighs the benefit/fun of having the chance.

Doesn't matter to me.

Actually I am not sure until I have a chance to participate.

N/a

Was not in the flag tournament

Maybe we might be able to get a company to sponsor. Just a thought.

Only if the executive think that the prize generates more money for the tournament If not then save the money

Did not play in the flag tournament,

That sounds good and may have made the tournament more interesting.

Yes. Every tournament has a hole in one prize. It's something to shoot for.

If you win a prize but can’t attend ...that prize should be awarded and able to be picked up at the clubhouse!

Don't really have an opinion either way

while a nice prize, this type of prize should not be necessary to get members to play

  1. Do you plan to use Pre-authorized debit in 2018 to pay for your membership and/or Events/Tournaments?

YES16 (30.19%)

NO23 (43.40%)

Undecided14 (26.42%)

If you responded NO, can you comment on why you choose not to use PAD?

Because I don't use PAD for ANYTHING!

I like to be in control of my expenses

I don't like Pre-Authorized Debit as I had problems with being overcharged and it proved tough to fix and took up a lot of time

I’m not comfortable with PAD.

Prefer to use credit card.

Wasn’t sure how to set it up

Cheques work for me.

Personal preference. It would be really nice if I could send an email money transfer to pay for events.

Not really sure why I will just stick to cheque or cash

Seems like too much of a hassle

We're old fashioned.

I like to pay cash

No need. Easier just to pay by cheque or cash.

No computer

It would look much better if the garbage was picked up from the river, etc. Also, the tee boxes could be refreshed with some new paint. The back 9 was exceptionally poor particularly with the drought conditions but improved as the summer went on.

flower and shrub beds should be weeded, flower pots watered egularly (most were dead before fall arrived) too much goose pooh, fix broken boards on benches, update yardage signs

Water the course.

Water the course. Fix the 18th fairway last 100 meters .

Although it is iiìa hot summer I thought more watering could have improved the fairways

It was better, but benches need to be redone, ball washers repaired and filled all the time would be nice. Sand traps were in much better shape this year.

I would say this is the worst it has been in many years. I understand there was no rain, however the way the holes are cut, the grass on the greens were uneven. It was horrible compared to any other courses around Regina.

Ensure sprinklers are maintained to avoid another bad early season

I think Maintenance did the best they could under the conditions we had this year but I was unsure why there was so little and inconsistent watering of fairways and greens.

Need to have knowledgeable people to do the coarse.example clumps of dried grass in front of the greens workers did not take pride

Just wish they could take some of the garbage out of the creeks and try to make the course look a little nicer for better public appearance, especially when hosting tournaments that include other clubs. As well the front section by the club house could be made to look a little nicer. First impressions mean a lot and if the front area looks bad people probably think the whole course is not well kept.

The broken benches seemed to take a long time to repair. The area around the 7th hole tee box is rough and ugly and has been for years.

It was so hot and dry this summer. I think the course was ok, considering the drought/heat.

The geese are a huge problem with the mess they created on fairway and greens. Not sure what to do about getting rid of them but maybe something to clean up after them The benches at the tee off were in horrible shape leaving you no where to sit when waiting to tee off - buy some lumber to fix them

They needed to water more especially on the back nine.

When it was dry, leave the grass grow in the fairways a little longer. No use cutting it down to the ground. Also removing the goose poop from the tee off boxes, a simple rake off the box would be nice

Clean up goose crap more often.

Pretty dry all year long Do they not water from the creek ??

It was in pathetic condition until late August

Generally Yes. I am happy with the Executive, as you seem to notice and act on anything that needs attention. It's up to each member of the Club and golfer at the Course to voice desired improvements in a nice calm fashion.

Very, very dry in the spring; they should have started watering sooner.

Not sure anything can be done, but the goose crap is very very annoying.

Let a private company take it over ( lol)

Seemed that little attention and follow up was given to our course this year. Not sure what happened but it definitely wasn't as good as in past years.

Benches broken water in ball cleaner was stinky Poop all over sand hard in the bunkers you could break a club or a wrist mowing could be done better Tor Hill is great perhaps the crew should go out there and learn a thing or two

Improve roads in general, but particularly at bridges, water fairways and greens more, this year several greens were in poor shape, fairways were thin and not lush, sand traps are usually hard packed and appear to have little to no actual sand, filled with gravel and clay. Benches were in broken and in disrepair. Given the cost to play the course was not worth it.

Whew benches are needed at the tee off boxes! Maybe the city can clean some of the garbage out of the shore line to help visually and with the odour.

More water & fertilizer on greens and fairways. More sand in sand traps. Fix the ruts on the paths. Fix the sharp drops going onto and coming off of the bridges.

Course was in horrible condition and it all wasn't because of the lack of rain. The course was embarrassing this year. Never saw any workers out working at any time of the day when I was there. They need to empty garbage cans, fill ball washers on a daily bases, not that hard to do!!!

It was a difficult dry year with some irrigation problems in the spring. Improvement was shown throughout the year.

Terrible amount of goose poop.Ruined the course. I

The greens need to be cleaner as far as after being cut, lots of leftover stuff on green.

Very dry weather causing a lot of issues - but there must have been issues with the irrigation as some t-boxes and fairways were extremely dry to the point of cracking.

Provide suggestions for improving Pro Shop service

16 Comments:

Kids were slow and should have been able to each help a customer instead of one watching while the other worked

I don't use the pro shop for anything other then paying

It would be nice to have more variety in the ladies golf tops available and some small sizes.

I found some staff very good and some indifferent.

Have more than 1 guy checking people in to speed up the process

Doug could handled the watering problem with a better explanation to the members. If the city needed pump parts, or there water line problems, let us know rather than just saying " you can phone the city and complain"

They were great

They don't serve chicken wings anymore & their service sucks. Try to smile once while you're ripping me off!

It was good, The kids were very interactive :)

It was okay this year. No major hickups that we noticed.

The young people were fun to be around

Carts can not be taken out to the parking lot to load/unload. Pushing players out on the back nine in front of players making the turn from the front nine.Never a marshal on the course, slow play isn't monitored, people sharing clubs and playing as five or more after being out of sight of the Pro Shop.

On club night if you make a tee time and your group is registered and no one is on tee box. Could that group go ahead to speed up play? Would help immensely .Having said that respect for tee times is to be acknowledged.

Golfers are being allowed to go out on the back 9 just before golfers are coming off the front 9 and proceeding to the back. The Goulet is the only course we have ever golfed anywhere that does not allow power carts to be taken to your car to load up clubs, etc. This will probably be a deal breaker for us golfing there or joining the club again.

Doug needs to go, get someone in there who cares about the course and it members

Not wow'd

I was mostly happy with the Kitchen services, but some of the staff could be much more friendly and actually act like they like working there!

Better service and more items on the menu.

Do not eat at the club

Really your only choices are a burger or chicken fingers. They could advertise a special for the next weeks club night so people are aware. Could have had something like soup or chili for flag tournament. Took a long time to get food when ordered and was often over cooked.

Food was awful. Hardly any healthy choices.

healthier choices

Very poor at beginning at season but greatly improved towards the end of season

We no longer buy food here due to marginal quality and selection.

Did not eat there very often

Same as above

Great food and service

It was alright

We did not eat in the kitchen due to the past experiences and because the only offerings are bar type deep fried foods.

Didn’t eat there.

No variety. I know there is limited space., food was very dry...over Cooked! And took a long time. The wine at wine and nine was gross. Poured ours out...just saying!

Slow. Not alot of options for myself as Gf.

Staff was nice, they need to put their cell phones down and limit the smokes breaks and make the customer their priority.

Didn't really utilize the food services during the year. Bar service was fine.

GREAT JOB, everyone!!

If you dont have a player to play with on club night what is the etiquette, is it ok to just add your name on the play sheet with 3 strangers?

It sure would be great to see some more of the members step up and be part of the executive. We cannot expect the same people to continually run the club! 200 members-some of you have to step up and take a turn!

Great job to all of the Executive. I very much appreciate all that you do.

Great job everyone!

Thank you very much for all your work. Greatly appreciated.

Good job Folks!

Excellent

Think things were good

They do a very good job with the few resources that they have.

As a new member this year would have been nice if someone had given as a bit of an orientation on our first day. A few weeks later we did manage to snag Mr. Snell who was very helpful. Would be nice if people mixed it up a bit more on the golf teams so we would have opportunity to meet a few others. It seems many teams have their preferred players to golf with.

Yes, they are a tireless crew of volunteers - Thank You

They do a great job keeping all of us happy all while volunteering their time. Very happy to have such a great group of people working for us.

Overall the club executive do a good job and we must recognize they are volunteers. Thank you. The following is a comment that could be an improvement, allow earlier start for club nights for those of us that are able to go earlier and want to play 18 holes. Make club night books available during the day.
